V8 Vantage Lightning Silver
Does Lightning Silver have a hue of blue in person? From pictures, it seems slight bluish silver, almost like the Mako Blue, which I have seen only once in person. (whats the difference between these two colors?)
Was this only available in 2010+ I'm looking for a 2009, but cannot seem to find it.

Lightning is one of those multi-layered colors like the metallic Lambo paint. There is a very definite blue and even a little red in the color. The name lightning was derived from the color that lightning makes. So if you look at pictures of lightning you will see what AM had in mind with the name. At the sam time, it depends on the light. Bright sunlight will reveal a lot of the hues but intense sunlight gives it a shroud of gold like Ross said. Mako is vey different, it has a milky blue color that doesn't change as much with light. Take a look at the pics that I have included. The 2 by the garage were take minutes apart with a little different sun and distance.

I just picked my 08 in Lightning silver and it is the best paint job color I have seen on any car.....as mentioned, it has different hues in different lighting (like a diamond ). In some lighting there is definitely a bluish hue integrated in the silver. It's truly a work of art.
I'll post picks when I get a chance too.

This is very similar to diamond silver metallic on my sl55 Amg Mercedes... This color has been a benz color for almost 10 years now, it's a wonderful color! Also refered to as iridium silver in the German car hues. Ref glasurit or spieshecker...

It's a great colour that does not photograph well
The colouring is a bit like the "flip" paints TVR used.
It was first seen on the DBS and then the N400, it then became a special order on the 4.7 from MY10
Here is one of my Vantage S roadster that shows the colour change well.
It goes from almost Mako Blue to a Lilac colour in the right light.

Get it in the wrong light and it look plain old silver

Here are a few snaps of mine under various lighting conditions to give you a sense of the colour:

thanks for the beautiful pics. In the last picture, lightning silver is on the far right. What color is the second from the right? Is that the regular silver color? It almost looks flat/matte in the last picture for some reason. I guess it does really depend on the light angle and time of day. I'll have to see it in person whenver there is one on the west coast in CA.
