Aston Martin's Egyptian Influence
For those who might have missed it, the Winter 2011 issue of the Aston Martin magazine, page 42 has a discussion of the Origin of the Aston Martin Badge.
Excerpted from the Article (and see the attached picture).
"As a founding member of the Aston Martin Owners Club, SCH 'Sammy' Davis , famous as one of the foremost racing drivers of the 1920s and 1930s, originally designed the emblem upon which today's Aston Martin badge is based. His interest in Egyptology saw him take the shape and pattern of a Scarab beetle as his inspiration in 1932. The finish of the badge was silver for the outline, while the 'ribs' of the wing were filled with cream enamel and the name Aston Martin, in silver letters, was framed centrally within the wings and set on a black bakground."

Interesting... I just thought they were wings like in relation to flight, airforce, birds etc...etc... No idea it came from scarab! That is one cool beetle... Ounce for ounce one of the strongest living things on earth!

The Scarab beetle was worshipped by the ancient Egyptians as an embodiment of the god Khepri. It was a religious symbol that represented re-birth--much like the Phoenix. Pendants made to resemble Scarab beetles were normally worn by Egyptian Kings and Queens as a symbol of their wealth and power. We wear our "Scarb" on the hood and trunk-lids of our Astons.
