Shopping for New Tires. Pilot Super Sports.

Looking for new tires for the DB9 and looking at Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Has anybody tried them and how do you feel about them? Has anybody heard anything about them from friends?

Hey, I had the PSS on the M3 and they are truely a great tire. They had great grip, were super quiet and great at high speeds. The handled the corners very well as well. I would have gotten them for my Aston Martin if they had been available in my sizes at the the time. I highly recommend this tire, and it even comes with a wear warranty. Also, suprisingly they are one of the highest rated tire for rain/hydroplane grip on the market which is very welcomed on a DD.

Oh and I should add that the previous tires on that car were Michelin PS2's. So the bar was already set high, and the PSS's definitely are better then the PS2's in almost everyway.

FYI: I paid $1220 installed for 255/35/19, 225/40/19 (M3 OEM sizes). Then I got a $70 mail in rebate. For the PSS's

And I paid $1440 installed for the 285/30/19, 245/35/19 for the Bridgestone Potenza RE0150A's.

Do you mind me asking what you paid for them?

If you don't mind....What did you pay for them?

I went 245/40 19 front and 285/35 19 rear on stock rims (Continental DW ExtremeContact). They're slightly taller, but less than 1% speedo error. I think they fill the wheel arches just a bit better.

I also went with the Continental Extreme Contact but it was on my BMW. I took off the noisy stiff run flats and couldn't be happier. Used Keith (ext.799) at Tire Rack. My local AM tech showed me that the original Aston Martin OEM Bridgestone tires have a special "AM9" code on the side wall that shows they are designed for use on the Aston Martin. Does anyone have any more knowledge about that?

Hey Ben, I think I paid about 350 a piece for the fronts and 330 for the rears. I have the 19" sportpack wheels.

I went against my dealers suggestion on the DW's referenced above after reading the Tire Rack comparison of them. The PSS seemed far superior in all areas and were 6lbs/tire in the front and 4lbs/tire lighter than the stock Bridgestones! Thats great when its unsprung weight.

I spent too much time researching tires....

I have also been thinking about the DWs. How was the performance vice the stock Bridgestones? IThe PS2 should have more grip but I am assuming that the DW would be quieter, ride a little better, and last longer.

Not sure if the Pirelli PZero Corsas would fit the V8 or not, but they are incredible. The tires stick to the pavement like glue and amaze me every time I really push my V12V. Downsides are they are expensive and lose much of their grip in cold temperatures (not so much of an issue down south).

Edit: The Ferrari 360 CS was faster around the Top Gear track than the F430. Both Ferrari and the Stig mentioned that this was in part due to the Pirellis on the CS instead of the Bridgestones on the 430. As far as I can from online searches, those Pirellis were the Corsas.

Start here if you want to read direct comparisons. If handling, G's, shorter braking distance, lowest overall track times etc are a concern for a non-R compound there is no better than the PSS. The DW has the quietest ride and longest life (PSS was second), but the DW was dead last on braking, handling, overall track. The P-Zeros were middle pack across the board, are the Corsa's R compound?

The charts at the bottom are very cool.

Mills-The PS2 is the old tire. The PSS is the new tire that comes on the 599GTO

The PZeros in that list are not the Corsas. Not sure on the compound.
