Storage Wars
Looks like a super cheesy show on A&E. I had never heard of it before but apparently it's already on its third season. I'm including it here because the trailer features the 2011 Virage quite prominently.
Sorry for the video quality. I searched Youtube to see if I could find a better copy, but no success.

Yeah, saw that a week ago. Off topic, I don't understand why all these "reality" shows advertise the people on their shows like they're total badasses. They normally show these people with their arms crossed with a sort of scowl on their faces, as if their about to step into the ring. This show goes even further to pretend that these people are an elite strike team. WTF?! These people buy old sh#t at storage space auctions!

The promo is a total spoof. I'll admit this show is a guilty pleasure and I enjoy it for what it is (Antiques Roadshow with some odd personalities mixed in) but, if you've seen it before, you'll know that the trailer is a total joke. The show has been surprisingly successful, looks like someone decided to have a little fun with the bigger budget for the trailer. Nice Virage .

I get that the trailer is a lark, but that doesn't change the fact that all these shows inexplicably like to portray the ordinary people on the shows as tough guys in the promos. I guess they somehow think it'll attract viewers, but I'm not sure why.

Ya, totally agree with you on the 'unreality' of reality TV shows. My kids watch some that are just total soul-sucking, brain-rotting affairs. I'm not gonna be an apologist for this show, it is what it is, of course most of the 'spontaneous' stuff I'm sure is scripted but I enjoy the broad genre incl AR, History Detectives etc.

it attracted karlfranz enough to start a thread and post the video on 6speed so they have to be doing something right!

I think the Aston should have been doing some badass stunt driving and then pull up to the curb in a sideways slide, swing open the passenger side door and bam! right there sits the chimp with stylish sunglasses in the drivers seat! Looking as though he'd have been driving the Aston all along and decieded to pick up the chick in the red dress on the side of the desert road. He then takes her to the storage area where he proceeds to beat up on the other contestants and after that he shows her his special treasured storage unit within which resides a new DBS and a suitcase full of cash, she is awe-struck and very glad to be with such a stylish baller primate!..."they call me chimp, double-Oh-chimp!" haha!!! Now that would have made for a better trailer! lol

Yes, it attracted me to do all the things you mention except for the most important: actually watch the show. That is the ultimate goal and in that regard I would say it failed.

or you gave them free advertising on a site with over 76k members. no matter what, its a win win for storage wars.

Not if people don't actually watch the show so that they can get paid by the advertisers.
BTW: I seriously doubt that there are 76K unique readers of the AM forum on 6speed regularly. I would be surprised if there was more than a couple hundred.
