Windshield Replacement - Constant Squeaking Thereafter
#16
For those who will ever need to replace their windshield, below is a list of all required parts that you should make sure get supplied to your installer. For some reason, the only parts that my dealership supplied were the actual glass and glass finisher (i.e., the rubber strip that runs along the edges of the windshield). They never ordered the foam strip or rubber spacers (i.e., bumpons). Hence, I've been having problems with the windshield sitting too low and rubbing up against the front dash.
Thanks Irish for pointing this out
Now, with all the parts in-hand, I'm hoping the third windshield is a charm...we'll see.
btw - the glass part numbers listed below are for non-heated windshields.

I had "Crystal Fusion" applied to the Windshield on my Vantage. About a year ago I had a passing truck toss a rock that hit the upper right area of my windshild with a loud, "thwack". I was sure it put a crack in my windshield and hoped it could be repaired--not replaced. When I stopped to check, I could find a little rock-dust where the rock hit, but only the smallest amount of glass-scratch, not even enough to require repair. Click on "Durability" under the video.

I asked them how much for a multiple car discount...they said to come in and talk to them about it...
Anyone else look into this? What rusults did you com up with?

I called them up, turns out it's only availabe at 1 location in my area, and that is at a Toyota/Scion dealer about an hour or so away. I called them and they want like $600 to put this liquid on my windshield wheich they say will bond to the glass and make it "10x" stronger...and a warrantly for 5 yrs to fix any chips or cracks...

Not ever wanting to go through something like that again, I also looked into Crystal Fusion, but apparently there are no authorized installers in all of California (and it's a pretty damn big state).
Anyhow, I did find an alternative product that I think does the exact same thing and seems to be endorsed by some really big companies and the U.S. military. It's call Diamon Fusion. Check it out: http://www.diamonfusion.com/en/appli...plication.aspx
I found a mobile installer in my area who quoted me $100 for the windshield. For that price, I'm getting all my cars treated. ASAP

Wow that's really expensive. I had a 3M installer put the shield on the front of my Aston, before I drove it home from IL, and he was the one that suggested I have the "Crystal Fusion" applied. He tacked on an extra 80-bucks to do it, and also gave me a spray bottle of extra fluid to apply every 6-months or so.

^^^ yep that's what they told me aboiut the spray bottle and whatnot, comes with it apply every 6 months etc.etc.....same sorta thing but they wanted 500 or so (originally 600) for the initial treatment I was like "is that crystal fusion or crystal meth with a hooker on the side??!!" Then those clowns started talking about how it works they didn't know anything they read it right off the same website I was on...pathetic
