removing cats on V8 Vantage
I have heard that removing the cats on the vantage will increase the power? not being familiar with the equipment , can someone please advise me if this is so? and will the dash show any lights on if I remove them? I was thinking of just having the 02 sensors refitted in a straight pipe? the other big question is will it be too noisy? i have the standard rear box with fuse 22 removed, we will not have issues with regulations as far as emissions are concerned.
Look forward to advise comments

Shoot me an email - Stuart@RSCTuning.com I have some test pipes already made up and we could take care of the ECU for you as well!

Greg,
most of us (V8V) went with 200 cell cats as it's a pretty straight forward swap. I also considered de-cats but the 200 cell option out weights the other in many aspects.
Here's my review of the mod https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...cats-dyno.html

Your car will be so loud with straight pipes (no cats) that you'll be hating life. You won't be able to even carry a conversation on in the car when driving. What you can do as a test is to pull the cats off (takes an hour) and leave the rear exhaust hang...then go for a short drive. You'll see in a mile how crazy loud it is.

thanks for the honest advise! my aston dealer said they did it once for guy who brought it back with a similar complaint, i thought maybe they were being a bit conservative? but he had an aftermarket rear box as well
thanks again

Then I went back to stock cats, too. I can't hardly imagine how loud a straight pipe would be....

fuse #22
I removed fuse #22. Now have a check engine light and the info says emissions error. Will it adjust itself eventually or do I put it back in?
Another question would be, how much louder are the 200 Cats than with the fuse removed?
Thanks in advance

The sport cats have 200 cells in the pipe that break down exhaust gases. IIRC, the stock cats have 600 cells in the pipe and are therefore are much more restrictive in terms of both exhaust flow and sound.
I also had 200 cell cats with the stock exhaust on my car and found them to be a too loud for my taste. While several folks describe a noticeable power increase from this mod, I personally did not notice the power difference.
