The under 30 Club?
#31
I slot in just below the 30 bracket as I'll be turning 30 this August. Picked up my '11 AMV8 just two weeks ago and love it.
I started buying the higher end sports cars/supercars when I was about 24, starting with a few Porsche's, M3 and finally an '09 & '13 GT-R before getting into the AM. I've always been around exotic cars and have driven/owned just about everything out there thanks to my parents wasting all their money trying new ones! I love exotic cars and plan to keep them a part of my life forever if possible.
I own my own home, have a wife (who is an enthusiast too) and child and own my car outright. It really is just about priorities, for me I'd rather have the toys than a $1.5mil house with nothing in it. I actually decided 3 years ago to return to school to become a doctor, as I wanted to achieve more with my time and give a little back to the world that's been so good to me.
I'm also British which certainly helps with the Aston Martin!

With a car that looks that good there's no reason to care about what a bunch of jealous folks think. Enjoy it as much as possible. I'm 31, and I have to live the rest of my life knowing I chose to pay off my house rather than own an Aston before I was 30. Thanks. This is what happens when you've been with the same woman for over ten years. They brainwash you into thinking that their student loans, the mortgage, life insurance, retirement accounts, redecorating, etc. are more important than you driving whatever you want. Marriage can be summed up in two words. Delayed gratification.

I bought a new SL when I was 30. It's not quite as flashy as an Aston but it deffinately moves you into being prejudged. Lots of people asumed i bought it to show-off or whatever they asumed... I just love cars. I can honestly say that I liked the SL just as much when I sold it as I did when I bought it (I can't say the same thing about many of my car purchases). Your decision doesn't appear to bother you enough to change your habits, so just have fun. Nothing you can do to change anybody else. If they don't like you (or do) based on your car, then they have problems you can't solve.

I am in the 40 + club and we all have different priorities in different times of our life..
I worked really hard and I am well established and secure financially, have a nice paid in full house in a nice area. had my share of very nice cars ( latest being a conv 911 as my DD ) and still felt somewhat funny going into the dealer and lay down the $$$ for my vantage.. did it anyway.
The bottom line IMHO is not the age but your financial stability, your attitude and your state of mind..(you mostly have to be over 40 to get that though, LOL)
I just hope that you are NOT one of those that i will have to support with my tax increase if **** hit the fan again, but then again thats when i will get a really good deal on your car and a steal on your condo.
Did i forget to mention - 20 years of marriage, two kids, 4 dogs, 4 cats and two horses later ? LOL
However old you are give me a shout if you are heading my way and i will treat you to a nice lunch!!!

I really like reading this thread.
For us in our 20's and early 30's I'm sure many of you thought the same thing I was...
"Considering I'm not a movie star, pro athlete, or internet tycoon, I'm doing pretty damn good for myself"
Then I started reading other stories, I feel so unaccomplished now .

LOL....as long as you enjoy it, does it matter what age? It's always better now than never. I see a lot of bad things happen to people, some due to stupidity and some due to random bad luck. Any of those things can happen to me, so I rather enjoy it now! I just happen to love cars.

When I was "under 30" there was no such model as the Vantage nor the DB9 in fact it seemed like far fewer choices in this category then there are today? Being 6'-5" tall even fewer. Tom Selleck may have fit in an F-car, albeit only with the roof out but, I did not..... I opted for the Porsche 928 b/c I loved the looks and most importantly, I fit!
You younger guys are fortunate to have many choices and even more fortunate that you are in a position to afford them. I salute all of you!
BTW, I am 53 years young and getting younger.....

Hey Dan, I recognize you from RL. I have 928regitry.org and used to participate quite frequently in the forum. Still love the 928 myself just don't have one right now.
