The under 30 Club?
Hey guys; sorry about this topic and post in advance. I'll be quick to say I'm not rich, own a huge house or my own company, or ever inherited any money. I'm just an "under 30" military officer, with a deployment to Afghanistan, over a decade of experience in my specialized field, engaged and have a small condo and puppy.
Sometimes I feel like I might be living outside my means and out of place, since I daily a VW GTI (to hide my V8VS) and sometimes my Ducati Monster. My neighbors in my condo complex probably think I'm sort of gun runner or drug lord, and my work colleagues have no idea what I have in the garage at home.
Being under 30, and on my second Aston I find it rare to find other "young" enthusiasts. Especially one like me who has been through many MANY cars over the past few years. Typically I get the "why didn't you buy a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Porsche" statement but still do my best to uphold the Aston Martin class and exclusivity.
Anyone else ever feel like your "too young" for an Aston or the brand? I went to a Jag/Aston event and everyone there was older than my parents. It sucked when people look at you as if your part of the valet staff and don't believe it when you drive off. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for what I have and try to stay humble and secretive, but its hard to find others to share and appreciate my level of cars when most peers seem to mock or find me out of place.
Sorry for the rant. Here's a picture of my car in return.

gr8 pic! Super contrast with nissan behind you! I'm not under 30. I did get the same treatment when I would show up at jag events with the 394th e-type roadster made when I was early thirties. When other owners see your passion for the marque, that bond that you share will quickly overcome the age difference, at least it did with jag owner/enthusiasts and I can't imagine it not being the same with Aston owner/enthusiasts. I wish the v8v was around when I was thirty!!!!!!

Your priorities are yours alone.
I wish I was younger when I figured out that if you want something enough, you just might be able to have it (material or otherwise).
Thankfully, you also really like sharing pics of your car, so we're all enjoying the ride.

If you are smart with your money it isn't that hard to afford these high end cars.
I bought my DB9 when I was 30 but have always had Porsches in my 20's. I was just ready for a change and wanted a semi reliable super car unlike the Ferrari's and Lambo's so I decided to give the Aston a try. I work on my own cars which makes things easier and it saves me a ton of money. I think working on them is part of the fun of owning a car like this.
As for the club events I haven't been to one yet. I'm a huge car nut and love all cars and I'm willing to talk shop with anyone so I usually get along with people pretty easily (most of the time).

I'm "old" (over 40) so I don't qualify for the discussion, but I just wanted to post that your car looks fantastic! Love to see Astons in colors other than variants of black, grey, and white. Great pic.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Like it's been mentioned, usually when people find out the Aston is my car, the impression typically changes and I'm always open to anyone who wants to chat or compliments the car. Believe me, I remember when I was a kid once and got invited to a Ferrari Owner's Club event and it changed my life and set my motivations.

Unless your car is paid off, you are contributing at least 10% in a retirement savings account, have at least 6-8 months of an emergency funds and are debt free then as Suzie Orman says..."My Friend" you can't afford the Aston. From a +30 year old.

I am just over 40 and have been to a few local Aston events in Dallas. I am definitely on the younger end, but it is like there are two groups, under 50 and over. Most in the younger group drive vantages and the older one typically drives dbx, virage and rapids. A generalization for sure. I agree with Dan and others, you own it, you love it, be enthusiastic, age be damned! They don't like it, then tell them to go home to their wives who care less.
I love your ride, the hre wheels are awesome, and the red is fantastic. That and the blue GTR behind your ride is a great contrast.

Hello - from a fellow under 30 year old. I've had my Aston Martin for exactly 2 years now! I'm enjoying every bit of it when I get to drive it, and only get it out once a week or so. I'm not going to lie, but I will want to move onto a Ferrari soon, but not until my AM sells. It's a beautiful car, very classy and unique. I'm very happy with my purchase and proud to say I have owned an Aston Martin (before 30). Personally, I would love to trade up to a V12 Vantage or DBS (they are crazy for the $), but I am ready for a change in brand. I have a feeling I will be back in an Aston Martin soon though. I do feel sometimes I am living above what's deserving of the average 26 yr old, but I have heard nothing but postive remarks from friends/family/etc. However, I do not tell/show my employees the car.
As far as finances go, if you know what youre doing at a responsible age and can actually afford it comfortably, why not? I'm a single 26 yr old and can afford toys like this, do the travel thing, party etc... No, I dont own a house -- equity being built in my commercial real estate deals. But I have a very good handle on whats afforadable, and what's not ie. I would love a 458, but its not happening.
BTW your car with those wheels and that drop... OMG.

I'm in my mid 30s and have been lucky enough to own many cars since my early twenties and have a handful of toys currently, each one has a purpose and each is unique for what it's good at, the Porsche GT2 is a beast, the sl55 Amg is a top down highway cruiser and boulevard bruiser, the BMW M3 CSL is the race car for track only usage, and the 337 GTi is a fun sporty daily, and of course the DB is a def an older man's car, the call it the "pipe and slippers crowd" lol ... It's a great sports GT and a fabulous driving car, with very good balance, torque, style and sports touring with the manual gearbox and a sport pack. I do want to add something italian next, selling my AMG in the meantime if anyone is interested let me know

guess i'll chime in with my ramblings...
i'm 29, bought my AM when i was 27. daily was a well-modified STi for several years, now a 4Runner. i grew up with very, very little, in a rough area outside of Oakland, CA. now i make a good living because i've worked my *** off for it.
i've always been far more comfortable around people older than myself. probably because i have a rather low tolerance for immaturity. i've also worked my entire life, and worked for everything that i have. that tends to be reflected in the way i carry myself, and others tend to see it as well, so i usually don't get the odd eye from an older crowd for being young.
i've been through a decent share of cars... 3 Subarus (Impreza 2.5RS, WRX, and WRX STi, all GD chassis), a Mazda RX7 twin turbo (FD chassis), a BMW 330i (E46), a Nissan Xterra, a Nissan Pathfinder, and my current AM V8V and Toyota 4Runner. and i've served - did 5 years in the Marines, also a specialized field that i've turned into a career. so there are a few of us with similar backgrounds floating around you aren't alone!
btw, i love all the pics you've posted. absolutely gorgeous.
just gotta say one quick thing about this... never feel this way unless you've made your way with improper means (cheating, stealing, etc). what you deserve as a 26 yr old is entirely dependent on what you've done to get there. i know people of every age that deserve more or less than what they have. it's your character and your efforts that define what you deserve, not your age.
