Window dip

Just had modules in both doors for window lifts replaced, not cheap, and they work fine, however, the window dip when door handle is pulled doesn't work if car has set for about 5-10 min., otherwise it works as it it should. Have discovered that if, when opening the door when the window does not dip, if i pull on the switch, as to raise it, it goes down a couple centimeters in rapid succession, then closes completely and then dips to the correct dip position and functions normally until the car sits for ten minuted unattended. It happens the same regardless of lock disposition. Any speculation as to what it may be or suggestions? Have done the recalibration, and that corrects also, but problem reoccurs exactly the same way. I would love to tell the dealer what needs to be done, as to save time, etc. BTW, the car is so wonderful and such an absolute pleasure, this minor inconvenience is so trivial; and I am a particular and fussy about my cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you replaced the door modules, do you know if they are the new type modules wich required the new software from A.M to work with your vehicle?

It was done at AM dealer in California (Los Gatos) before it was shipped to me in Pennsylvania, so they must've uploaded the new software because the windows work perfectly otherwise, There is no problem with the passenger side. Should I call them and double check?

The Spanish door modules kepth faulting and would not comunicate correctly..some drivers door modules from new though they were passenger door module do opening the pass door would lower the drivers window..

The new Pektron module from the UK solved all issues..but need a soecial software made by AM and sent to your dealer to flash the vehicle and adapt them to the new type modules..

Calling would be good to at least get a copy of the bill which shows the part numbers..

Called today, module are new uk version and flashed with new firmware/software. Tech said to check for play in lift and informed me that excess play can "confuse" module as to window location, gave me a test. Look like a new reg. perhaps, any thoughts ?

U could do as the tech advised and check for play, not really to deal with the regulator being faulty but more common is the bolt for the clamps that secure the window to the regulator come loose...but u would still hear the regulator working just the window would be sloppy

Your concern from what I read is the window just goes dead after 10 mins of being powered off, and will not dip to open the door correct?

I have noticed on some newer cars that the normal up down calibration done manually doesn't work..I end up programming with the AMDS machine and all is well..might just be a calibration issue...I have never seen it go dead after 10mins

Well the window dip gets its feed from the door latch, door latch talks to the door module to tell the regulator to dip down...could be 1 of the 3 parts faulty or just needing a AMDS calibration..

There is one thing u can do before doing a dealer visit..but first what year is the car?

K, u could do a hard reset which requires disconnecting the battery...but this would clear it misfire corrections and a detailed road test would need to be performed just to get ur engine to detect a misfire afterwards...other option would have to be a dealer visit, they would do the same hard reset but save the misfire correction values with there machine, this avoids the need for the road test

checked the slop in the window, it is tight and shows no slop or looseness when moved up or down by hand, to check for any excess play. I am apprehensive about a a hard reset, (need some words of reassurance) and may make a trip to a AM service center.

window dip.

Today I had the car parked and locked with the four ways on for about 15 min., well past the time the dip stops working, and it dipped normal upon opening. Repeated again and worked again! Does this help or deepen he mystery?

It really needs to be plugged in to the dealers scanner...it could be something basic like a micro switch for the handle, door isn't seen opening so the window will not lower...this u could be chasing forever unroll scanned and datalogged

Window dip problem fixed on my '06

I got my V8V in 2010 and late last year the windows would not dip sometimes. Went through many resets but the issue was still there. I finally replaced my battery and it has been perfect since. I wonder if the little burst of voltage needed to run the window dip isn't there on a worn battery. Anyway, I haven't had a problem with the dip since the new battery six months ago.
