Cars and Coffee Houston 4-6-13

Anyone else going?

I'll be there in the morning in my Sage Green DB9 Volante, parked on the back half with the other exotics.

A massive turnout this morning. 1600-1800? That seems about right for the number of cars.

A sampling of cars follows:

Me

Others

Some Teslas

John Hennessey's 265 mph Venom

LFA

8 of at least 10 ZR1s in attendance

Hi

I was there today. Big turn out huh?

Within 5 minutes of getting there my wife demanded a grey Aston. So we had a good look at the Virage, the Vantage and she had a look at yours too. The age old question of carrying 4 came up and using it as a daily commuter for 25 miles each way to downtown.

Hey ho, good problems to have.

Hope you had fun.

Indeed. I got there at 7:15 am, and you saw how far back I had to park.

Yep, we're fortunate to have such problems. Nice weather, great turnout, good times.

Next month Cars and Coffee is on the same weekend as Keels and Wheels in Kemah at the Lakewood Yachtclub, another great event.

Yeah, its the first time I've taken my car, and was way in the back. Is the whole place saved with cones, or can you actually get a spot if your there early enough?

How do you rate Keels and Wheels? I havent been before, but was thinking about it.

Cheers.

The middle section where most of the Ferraris and Porsches were, have a lot of sections blocked off by cones but I've been able to park up there when I get there early early. Normally a 7:15 arrival time would have put me on one of the side sections that join the middle and the back. Next month I'll target a 6:45 am arrival to get in the middle section, and hope for the best. That has me leaving Clear Lake before 6 am (ugh!).

The front where the muscle cars, corvettes, mopars, etc. hang out has open spots all morning as people come and go.

It's my absolute favorite paid-attendance car show that I attend ($35/person at the gate, for charity). I describe it as the Pebble Beach of the Gulf Coast. I took some friends from Miami last year, and they enjoyed it so much they are flying in for it next month too.

To be clear, it's a car and boat show, not a cars/coffee event, so I always go as a spectator.

Here are my photos from last year

Excellent feedback. Thanks. I will plan on going to both next month then.

Could be a long fun day!

I used to attend the Dallas one, which drew similar numbers of cars but had far less room to show them. So you ended up with cars running down the middle of lanes and being trappped. Almost was run over by a 70+ year old woman in her Bentely as she stormed down a lane.

The event became just too messy and made me fear getting me, one of the kids or my car damaged. Its sad, becuase I really like the concept.

That is my grey Vantage in the 3rd picture, next to the Virage. I just bought it a few weeks ago up in Dallas. Nice to meet another Houston Aston owner Jeff, I had thought that the Virage owner and I were the only two there.

I arrived just before 7:00 and wasn't sure what the deal was with the cones. Luckily a friendly vintage Mini owner picked the cone up for me since I didn't know what the etiquette was. Hope to see you at the next event and further expand my Houston Aston owner network!

Ahh yes, very nice! I was parked in the back, on the row beyond the row of Ferrari and Lambo cars.

Seems the cones are typically used by the larger groups, such as the Mopars, and the F/L/P cars. I'm going to try for a 6:45 an arrival time next month to see if I can get there before the coneheads.

Scrolling through the pics I see a lotus, see the engine....nope it's the expensive Hennessy lotus, err I mean Venom GT

I'm originally from Clear Lake area, do you get into any boating down there?

Always wanted to attend Keel-Wheels, but always have a conflict. It looks like a really cool event - it brings all types of cars/boats.

No, it never really interested me. Any time a hurricane or major storm heads this way, the effort required by boat owners to protect their property always confirms my choice.

I love it. I'll park behind Classic Cafe, walk over to the event, then stop by Classic for great food on the way back to my car. Last year I had friends from Miami in for the K&W weekend. They enjoyed both Cars and Coffee, and K&W so much they are coming back. Over on the vette forum, I've trying to get a friend from Tulsa and one from Canada (town unknown) to fly down as well.
