What are your thoughts on the matte chrome wrap on this Vanquish Volante? I quite like it.

Saw the title and thought I'd hate it. I don't.

Looks like some kind of burnished metal.

 

Certainly more subtle and elegant than the "Polished Chrome Wrap" which I think looks ridiculous. To me this wrap looks like a normal metallic medium-silver paint.

 

Saw the word "chrome" and I too thought I'd hate it. It's not bad. Don't think I'd do it on my car, but not bad.

 

Already I find the Vanquish Volante the most beautiful Aston of all time. Now, I like it more. The level of satin in that finish manages to perfectly enhance the sculpting and form of the car. Really breathtaking.

Bet the same would look great on a DB9, volante or not.

 

So who are these people voting that they hate it and why?

 

I'm one of them. I like cars painted, in gloss colors. I don't like wraps, chrome body panels, satin/mat finishes. Similarly I dislike "murdered out" cars, black wheels, rubber band tires.

At 50ish years old, I'm probably too old !

Ironically I'm one of the youngest members on the 1953-67 Corvette forum, and probably one of the oldest here.

 

I'll be 50 next year, so I'm right behind you. Age is a state of mind, so no need to be a fuddy-duddy. Remember "you're only as old as (the women) you feel"

 

I'm 60's ... vantage makes me feel 30's. I like the wrap, it makes the car look like stainless steel or aluminum.

 

I thought I'd hate it also but I kinda like it because as others said it looks like a brushed metal finish.

 

As a photographer, I admire how the finish highlights the contours so well without all the distracting reflections. It reminds me of the bare metal "body in white" at the factories or some of the Mercedes racecar finishes.
