Vantage sportshift sound when in neutral

Hello all,

I just bought a second hand vantage 4.3 sport shift. It is just wonderful to drive!

Normally, when standing still at a light or so, I put the car into neutral, and everything is OK.

But I have noticed that - sometimes, not always- when putting it in neutral, the car makes a ping sound three times (you know, like when you don't wear your seatbelt it goes ping ping ping), an a message appears: 'gearbox in neutral' followed by 'apply handbrake'.

Is this normal? I only get the sound and message about once or twice a day. The other times when I shift into neutral, there is no sound, no message, just the normal 'N' on the screen.

For what's it worth: I never use D, always shift very gently and always do the clutch learn in the morning.

Thank you for your answer!

PS.: English is not my first language

You probably dont have your foot on the footbrake.
If you put car into N with foot on brake this message does not appear.

Hmmm, now that I think about it, I think you are right.
