2007 V8V iPod control

Hi
My 2007 V8V has an iPod kit installed but I am at a loss as to how to use it. I attached the iPod in the glove box and it recognizes the Alpine headunit. I've done more than a few searches but so far I haven't found the info i need. My 07 has premium audio and bluetooth and there are two switches under the dash near the drivers right knee. One switch has a red light and the other is On/Off. When you flip the switch on the right the NAV screen goes dark. But nothing seems to happen when using the button on the left. BUt I really have no idea if these switches are even for the iPod ? I've only owned it for a few days so lots to learn It is an amazing machine, Black with Kestral Tan interior with 9,980 miles.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

I have a 2007 as well. I have an after market kit installed on my car, I also have the premium audio. With my car I plug the iPod in which is in the ashtray I have a little metal switch in the ashtray that I flip and then the radio goes off and I control the music from my iPod none of the functions are seen on the radio they're only seen through the I phone. The only thing I use the radio for at that point is volume control and off and on of the head unit.

Hi Ron, thanks for the reply, it is much appreciated. Would yours be the Denison kit I have been reading about ? If I can't figure it out I'll look for a good shop local and have the iPod kit replaced.

I have a passport radar detector installed in the ashtray, maybe it has something to do with that ?

I just called my shop. It is a NAV TV Aston aux system. I did read on the form I believe the Aston Martin came up with the retrofit kit to do the same thing.

And I believe for the Aston retrofit kit you used the CD button and it would show that you had 3 options, CD-iPod-USB. I had tried that but no luck.

It is in the shop today getting Ventureshield installed and they are going through the brakes for me as it had a little squeak under light braking, so I can't try the radio button until i get it back.

But thanks again

I was starting to get frustrated with it today when I remembered there was a remote control in the bag. I shut off the NAV screen and hit Source on the remote and there was an Alpine menu on the NAV screen !!!! It was able to find the iPod and play but I was still getting whatever audio source was paying, either AM/FM or CD. NOw I just need to find the magic button on the head unit to let the audio play through. SO close yet so far lol
