So I got a mini usb cord and attached the port to my computer with Garmin Xpress loaded. For some reason though the in car nav screen noted the connection garmin xpress wouldn't find the unit. When I went to the help screen it gave a choice of multiple car brands to select from for help but AM was not one of them. I guess this means that we are left with using the SD card for updates.'
I've found lots of cards for sale through amazon. Does anyone know how to make sure the card has recent updates as opposed to an old card.

Thanks for posting picture and trying. I see the only option is to buy the card directly from Garmin. We can't buy download option either as their site requires us to connect compatible Garmin device to purchase download :-(

Dang. Okay I'll try using my portable Garmin nuvi265w with the navigator card in the SD slot this weekend. Fingers crossed it works since you can pick these old Garmins up on eBay for $20-40!

Well, unfortunately this method didn't work. Garmin Express says the card is incompatible. Shame because there is already an update available to go from 2017.10 to 2017.20 maps. I'm going to try to contact Garmin since this should have worked in my opinion.

Upon reading the web site details it does unfortunately look like the SD card version is not able to be updated. Oh well, still a lot cheaper to go this route rather than pay the dealer $180! If anyone can get Garmin Express to talk to the Aston unit then maybe we could have lifetime updates with the download version.

Please guys I need help,

I have an Aston Martin Vantags 2008 ,I was reading your posts and I searched the whole car for the GPS unit where I should install the SD card and couldn't find it ... All what I have is a navigation DVD unit which is installed on the driver side back in the trunk .

Can someone tell me where to find ?

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I don't use the nav system in my 13. I only use that screen when backing up, otherwise it stays down. Two reasons for this. First I don't like the looks of the unit when upright. Second I vastly prefer what's available on my phone for navigation. I have an unobtrusive phone holder that doesn't involve suction cups on my dash. I do the same thing for my SUV which has a pretty useful nav screen, unlike the Aston.

I am asking this so I could get latest SD Card from Garmin (as posted in this thread) and stick it in there. The last time I let the dealer do it, I paid $200+.

The systems in the cars during your years are pretty bad. There is a system being packaged up that may be useful to many AM owners. The new systems will look OEM have lifetime maps and traffic, provide Bluetooth phone, AM LOGO startup screen, AN Aston V8V or DB9 or DBS as the vehicle on the screen and have up to 4 cameras available. Check the "A Special Homecoming" Thread one the next month for further information as its going in my car and will be available for other members.

Koomus. It fits onto one of the slats of the HVAC vent. It's a magnet that holds your phone. It comes with a thin metal plate you insert between your phone and the phone protector you use.

I have one of these for my iPhone. I use it on the vent between the drivers door and instrument cluster. It might be the best solution available but I still don't like it.
Just wish there was a cost effective solution for replacing the factory unit.
