Lightweight Battery for Aston Martins....

Hi all,

We, Antigravity Batteries, are a site sponsor here on 6speed online. I know there are some serious Aston Martin fans on here and some are looking for more Performance Products for them. I also know there are a couple Aston Martin "Lightweight Battery Kits" out there for the performance oriented owners, So I wanted to come on here and say that we offer a NEW Lightweight Lithium Battery for the Aston Martins as well as any other European and American Performance Cars....

What sets apart our Batteries from Competitors are the following facts.

1- We offer the latest in Lightweight Lithium-Ion technology for our Lithium Batteries. For example our batteries include a Full Battery Management System for the Safest and Longest Lasting Battery possible, (up to 8 year lifespan). This BMS offer protections agains over-charge, over-discharge, short-circuiting, and over-heating. As well it offers Cell Balancing to make sure all the Cells stay in sync with their state of charge. All this makes for an incredibly safe, reliable, and long life battery.

2- We are the only battery manufacturer to offer BUILT-IN wireless Jump Starting. So that means you WON'T be stranded with a dead battery EVER. If you left lights on or stored the car to several month and came back to a dead battery.... simply push the button on our Wireless Remote Keyfob, start the Car and drive away. Yes it works!

3-Our New Battery is in a DROP-IN fit OEM sized Battery. We use the H7/Group 94R Case size for the Aston Martin, though you could also opt for the H6/Group48 size and it will also fit perfectly in most the Models also. No special mounting, no "kit". Just drop it in using the exact existing mounting and you done. And easy direct swap.

4- We offer significantly lower pricing that some of our competitors, while offering more in Technology, Functionality and Fitment.

I have posted a video below of our latest Battery below as well as a link to our page.

Hi
Can you tell us what is the advantages of your battery vs Braille. Redpants set up is at $616 including shipping for me. At your website the cost is $780 plus ca tax which puts it to $850.

Thanks

Here are a list of differences. This is not a competition against Redpants, we are reaching out to them to see if they want to also carry our products. So this is just a product to product compairison.

1- The Braille in the Redpants option is a Lead Acid Battery that is 30 Amp Hours and weighs 21 lbs. Our Battery is a Lithium-Ion Battery that weighs 13.5 lbs So after the additional tray needed for the Lead Acid Battery, which is not needed with ours, its about 8lbs lighter.

2- OUr Battery is offering 10 more Amp Hours than the Braille Battery... so that mean more Capacity, as well as power. It can sit longer in storage even with a Parasitic Drain on the battery compared to 30Ah.

3- Lihtium-Ion offers twice the Cranking Power of Lead/Acid in similar Ah Capacity Batteries. So a Lithium is very energy dense and can have a much higher Current output so the starting is much better overall. The fact is Braille is also exaggerating its cranking power. The Braille Battery is actually a re-branded DEKA 30Ah Battery. This Deka/Braille is a fine Lead/Acid Battery, but Braille is inflating is Cranking abilities and claiming 1300 Pulse Cranking Amps, not very accurate.

4- Our battery offers Wireless Keyfob Remote JumpStarting. So that means you won't be stranded with a dead-battery emergency. For example if you did leave the car in storage for a few months, or left lights on or keys in the ignition and the battery drained, you simply press the Keyfob and awaken the battery and restart the Car. The Battery will put itself to sleep before going dead and allow enough energy kept in reserve to Start the vehicle again.

5- Our Batteries are the exact OEM fitment for the Aston and all other European Sports and Passenger Cars. So it's a drop in fit without the need for modifications or special trays. Just a direct swap with no issues.

6- Lithium is also rated at twice the Cycles compared to Lead/Acid Batteries. This is basically how many times the battery can be charged and discharged, it a measure of Lifecycle. The lithium battery has an 8 year lifespan, while lead is expected 4 year. But the fact is Lead/Acid is getting a lot less nowadays.

7- Our battery has a built in circuit-board that monitors how the battery is being charged, balances all the Lithium Cells, and also has built-in protections so the battery cannot be over-discharged (#1 cause of failure in any type of battery), over-charged, and even protection against short circuiting. So it protects itself for safety and prevents itself from being damaged.

So those are the basics. So yes the Lithium Battery is more expensive on the initial purchase, but the longer life, and features such as the built-in jump starting, and the ultra-lightweight make for a much better value than Lead/Acid.

If you have any other questions let us know.

Good comparison... How do they hold up under heat here in Florida...

Also do you have these for boats?

Very interesting comparison.

When my battery gets weak, this is definitely an option I will dig deeper.

Is a special type of battery tender needed? Many of us keep our cars on battery tenders as they don't get driven every day. My current AGM battery requires a tender that has an AGM mode. I'm guessing it's the same for a Lithium ION?

Yes you are correct. iT is a Lithium Ion (Lifepo4 chemistry) version. About $60 for a standard one. IT just doesn't cycle as much as a Lead Acid and have a different charging alogorithm for they charging cycle than lead acid.... though in the car they work without issue. Much like AGM vs Flooded Lead/Acid.

Heat in Florida won't be a problem... it feels hotter in Florida than California, due to humidity.... but CA is Hotter for sure. We do fine here.

This will absolutely work for the Starter Battery on a boat.... but a boat also should have deep cycle batteries due to the nature of the use. Deep Cycle allow you alot of Amp Hours. We are developing some for Bass Boats and trolling , yet big wieght savings but we are trying to get the cost more viable for this use.

Are you saying one 30Ah would not flip the V-12 motor? Or you just wanted more capacity.... Because I think our 40Ah would flip that 12 easy... but would like to try it someday. I think our 30Ah would also but we don't have those in yet.

Some more questions.

What about fire issues? Lithium Ion batteries have a somewhat sordid history.

What is the life expantancy? The web site says longer than a traditional battery, but how many years? And does the battery start to loose charge over time? Cell phone batteries for instance start to lose charge capacity as they get older.

How do you recycle one of these? Your web page talks about environmentally friendly, but you can't just take this to the auto parts store to recycle.

This is definitely an interesting product, but wonder about the longevity of it vs a regular battery.

Hey David, good questions. I will answer them. If you are interested in reading a ton of stuff about lithium that is from real world people like yourself asking about it.... and it a bit crazy long... is from last year when we were offering one of our other batteries on Rennlist. They ask every question in the book and you would be and expert on Lithium if you read it.... https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...for-2-gt3.html

1- Life expectancy if 7 to 9 years... Lithium is rated at 2000-2500 cycles before losing is efficiency, it is not the same Lithium make up of a phone battery ... Lead is rated for 750-1000 cycles. A cycle is a full discharge and recharge of a battery cell. Lithium, has twice the expected lifespan as Lead/Acid. But both batteries can be damaged and life shortened dramatically by one over-discharge... for example you left your lights on until the voltage was around 8v. But our battery has protections built in so this cannot happen. So this in fact means you CAN"T damage the battery by accidentally leaving your lights on, or the stereo, which dramatically increases lifespan. The battery has a BMS -Battery Management System that controls the battery. The battery will put itself to sleep if it notices and over-discharge. This battery also has built in protections for the over-charge, over-discharge, thermal protections and has short-circuit protections. So it has alot of safety and protections built-in. These not only lead to the safest lithium product, but also a much longer lifecycle than Lead/Acid.

2- Fire issues are not a spontaneous occurrence with Lithium. There are also a few different Lithium Chemistries that are significantly more volitile that others. We use Lifepo4 (lithium Iron phosphate) and it is the safer Lithium chemistry. It also opeates within the voltage range of teh Vehicles themselves... similar to Lead/Acids voltage range but a few tenths higher, so they are perfectly compatible with all 12v System just as lead it. ON the Fire issue that is caused by a few factor.... over-heating due to over-chargeing, or fast charging from a severly over-discharged state. As I said it is not a spontaneous thing as might be projected in the news and it also depend on the chemistry. LIFEPO4 was not used in the Hooverboards... those were LICO and it is very energy dense and without a proper BMS or quality cell is volatile.
So going back to me mention the BMS above, that Circuit board covers all the input and output to and from the battery to it charges properly and can't be over-charged, or allowed to over-discharge which could cause overheating in the battery. As well is has inside the caseing a fire proof fiberboard just to contain and potential event happening.

3- Recycling is taking it to a typical Battery Recycling Center. It will be a long time before a recycle and it just one battery and the local jurisdictions usually have these places as well as the ones you find that are not City/Town run.

Any other questions let us know.

Which of your models would you recommend for a 2019 Vantage? What would the weight be compared to the stock one? What would the price be?

Thank you.
