Aston Martin screwed by Chinese

Not very good business instincts by AML senior management if true...

they got what's coming to them... when are companies going to learn that selling out to the Chinese market is a stupid and short sighted idea (like with the styling of the new Vantage, geared towards that market)

Palmer has got to go, he's been a complete and total disaster

Guys,

So if I am reading this story correctly, and let's face it Jalopnik hardly is any bastion of automotive journalistic excellence, AM brokered this deal w/o any down payment and announced the deal when the vendor was already behind on payments??

Yorick is infamous around these parts
Equally concerning is that a company of AML's status is using is using some of the lowest-quality automotive parts made by the lowest-quality manufacturers on the planet. That is Chinese manufacturers. Just one case in point being the accelerator pedal recall on the V8V. It was a sad day when I found out that my V8V contains some of the lowest quality Chinese parts AML can find. Shame on AML. It's akin to buying a Louis Vuitton product only to find out it is a shoddy copy made by unscrupulous Chinese business people.

Was the deal for the Newport Pagnell Vanquish or the Gaydon Vanquish? I thought it was for the NP one?

The 'real' LV products and the 'copies' come from the same factories in China.

Is that true? They're not made in France?

Yep. Also Balenciaga, Prada, Gucci to name a few. They are good craftsmen and women in China as well.

Also made in Slovakia, Romania etc.

Hermes reportedly is still made in France. Then again the price reflects as such.

I have seen some of those brands made in other EU countries, but haven't encountered them made in China. No reason why someone in China couldn't sew as well as in Italy.

Well, as we know, it’ should be built to the standards and quality control of AML.

I was surprised that the French manufacture interiors for Corvettes, Ferrari’s, etc.

“The new driver-centric cockpit of the 2020 Corvette is not only being praised for its layout, but also for the richness of the materials included. No more plastic-fantastic interiors like previous generations, the C8 Corvette features rich Mulan or Napa leathers, brushed aluminum, and of course, real carbon fiber.

To bring the high-quality interior to the Corvette, Chevrolet tapped a French company named Faurecia who also makes interiors for Bugatti, Ferrari, Audi, and Mercedes Benz among others.”

Global world for sure.

It sounds like Faurecia does CAD work, not actually manufacture of the interiors?
