The AMR was the first Mans trans new Vantage and is on sale.
What I remember they said when this few are sold, the normal Vantage with manual will be available.

Thank you for sharing. I wonder what the difference will be between the amr and manual coupe aside from badging and seats?

I think you are spot on in addition of price and of course first model manual transmission.

Hi...according to Motor Trend mag...Aston engineering is having problems. The MB engine has never been mated to a manual shift by any any company using this engine.
Aston engineering is having problems making it work correctly...
No mention of release date in the article...
I guess more and bigger clutch problems coming...hopefully not..

Sorry...I read in the actual mag...It was under the Confidencal section where they get inside information...maybe page 20-21 area.
I gave to my son to read. While he is social media guy he still enjoys reading some hard copy mags.

I think the article is from a while ago as the Vantage AMR with 7 spd manual was announced on April 30 of this year. I've seen videos of it in action on You Tube and have been told mine has been built and is on way soon to dealer.

The article was in the latest issue of Motor Trend.
While it did not state Vantage AMR but mentioned Vantage.
If you are using the MB engine with the manual just be aware of possible problems.
Aston Martin is too small a company to hold up cars till they feel are 100 percent. This forum is proof with the many problems listed by members.
While I hope you have nothing but good luck or fortune with your New car...your car can be released and sold you with Aston Martin fixing or correcting later...Aston needs money.

Here's the article. It just says it's tricky to calibrate the engine. Happens with every other drivetrain out there. Not the heap of "problems" you keep mentioning.

No, it's not a proof. It's your own confirmatory bias. Sample size here is still too small and may not be representative of the entire population of AM owners.

I also belong to the 911 forum and read about all sorts of problems with those cars. I've owned 5 and have never had a single problem with a 911 (Other than a flat tire or two) with any of them. So I agree, anecdotal..... I know the Aston is a rarer car built by a small manufacturer but the under pinnings of the new car are all MBZ so I'll take my chances.

Agreed. I'd call that little blub non-news. Every time an engine and transmission are mated, there's software work to be done. That's all this stated.

yeah its not exactly rocket science... I'd imagine finding space in the interior for the stick itself probably involves more engineering than getting it mated to a pretty normal engine
