2019 Vantage Winter Tires

Can anyone tell me what size do I need to get for winter tires that will fit over the OEM rims? Stock are 255/295 but surely winter tires can't be in 295. You're likely to run a square setup of 255's or at the most 275 MAX, right? Are 255's able to fit the rear width of the rims?

Also a second question. Before the 2019, I had a 2008 V8 Vantage. I have a set of rims and winter tires that used to go on the older Vantage (actually OEM 2008 Vantage rims with winter tires - I had the summers on a DB11 rims. Would that set as is...whatever size and bolt pattern etc they may be, will they fit on the 2019 and look at least okay?

Thoughts and ideas welcomed please. Thanks!

^Thank you for your response. Well that is certainly what the stock size is but I am trying to find out what alternative sizes might fit.

Especially if my old Vantage's winter rims will fit. They are 235/40/R19 and 275/35R19. They are on the stock 2008 Vantage rims not sure what the bolt pattern is. Trying to see if they will fit o the 2019 Vantage. If so, it'll save me a huge chunk of change from buying new winter tires.

Found a lightly used set of 265/35/20 and 295/30/20 Pirelli Sottozero winter tires that I purchased and had installed today. Slightly lower profile than the stock and front is a little larger but I didn't that would make a big difference. Haven't tried them out yet as it snowed whole bunch but for those few clean days with clear roads, I think it should be good. Don't have to keep looking at it sitting in the garage!

Nice, there is something about a new car, new tires, fresh snow. But all at once should be an epic venture for sure. Enjoy!

The same size tires as the summer ones. No different other than it's a winter tire compound.

I would 100% run square over large OEM rear tires. The 255/40/20 is same diameter as 295/35/20, so no speed difference. The 255's can also be mounted to a 10-inch rim that you have in rear, makes rotating for longer tire life practical. You can run a smaller front in width as well, just tire options become very limited and the 235's are 0.30 inch shorter in diameter, but still within the +/-2% rule). So either a 255 square setup(lots of choices), or Front: 235/45/20; Rear: 255/40/20(few choices for the 235's).

The reason for the smaller width tire choice, you want to cut through the snow and slush, not plow it down the street. The smaller width tires cut through the snow and slush, for a better clear path to an area of surface of better grip. Also, when you run larger width tires on a vehicle not heavy enough, you create a snow-plow affect which puts a mound of snow in front of the tire while braking, that mound of snow converts to like an ice, lengthening your stopping distance.

If it was my car, I would run a set of 255's square, and depending on what type of winter conditions I would drive in..would depend if I'm shooting for stiff high speed winters that are Z/V/W speed rated OR studded T rated which are softer tires. Mostly likely if I was still living in Montreal, I would go the studded T speed rated tire route.

How did this tire configuration worked out for your 2019 Vantage in the snow?

Well to be quite honest, I didn't really end up driving the car in 'proper winter'. And by that I mean, deep snow, or soft powdery snow everywhere on the roads etc. I did take it out when the major roads had cleared out for the most part and only inner streets had some snow on them and they were fine. Of course you need to make sure you don't have a heavy foot all the time.

On one occasion I was driving really slow in the inner residential streets coming up to the corner from my house and as soon as I turned right there was a big pile of soft, mushy, melting snow/ice mix.The car immediately got stuck in it as I was really slow (distracted on a phone call) and came to a stop. Luckily, I was able to use the rocking technique to get the car going back and forth to create some momentum and got myself out as it wasn't a vast area.

So long story short - with winter tires you will be fine to get around for the most part. But you're not gonna be able to take your car on a massive snow day or when deep snow is all over the roads.

Thanks @Ksa , I will be doing the same set up this winter and just wanted to make sure the tire set up fits the 20" rim that the 2019 Vantage comes with and is drivable in the winter under suitable conditions.
