Battery Drain

So found a bunch of topics on battery drain. Well I usually keep my 07V8V on a ctek but drove it about 25 minutes on Monday evening. Today I went to hook it back up and the battery was so dead that it wouldn't even pop the trunk. Thoughts? I expected it maybe to be a little low but no dome lights, nothing.

Thanks
Thom

I have only owned the car a few months. So not really sure. I will need to dig down and see if there is any indicators on the battery.

just replace the battery... no telling how or if it was ever maintained and so many systems are dependent on a good battery

You could replace the battery and it still goes flat tmr....

he proper way to resolve the issue would be to perform an amperage drain test. Most of the high end luxury vehicles have Boomerang/LowJack installed for that era. The backup battery life on those units is around 5-10 years depending on device model, once the backup battery goes flat, the boomerang/lowjack system draws +200mA (even seen much higher in range of 3-5 amps), when you shouldn't have more than 10-30mA. If you have a multimeter, very easy to do an amperage drain test and verify on your own dime. If test passes after vehicle goes to sleep, bring vehicle to your local car-parts or repair shop to have the alternator and battery tested (unless you want to buy a tester $$$..pointless though being test costs are usually 10-20$).

once I her to the battery I will check drain test. Good idea. If it is a low jack thing, is that something that can be unhooked or battery replaced? I did see some theft sticker in 3-4 places.

Thanks
Thom

Yes, if the car had an older LowJack system installed, most likely the subscription would be over/ended/expired. meaning if you call LowJack, and give your VIN, they would be able to assist on the technicians installed location for backup battery and antenna..location will be limited ex: "right side headlamp" ..they won't be able to pin-point the location, but at the very least get you in the area needed. But first, need to check the drain to see what's going on..lots of other types of devices that will/can cause a drain (those cheap GSM trackers are P.O.S as well..)

Again..not stating it's a guaranteed drain..however, the drain test is the 1st step in diagnosing a dead battery..it's something that 80% of ppl overlook (regardless of battery date code age)

I was planning on pulling the negative lead off this weekend and putting my meter in line to see the drain. Battery was at least charged enough to pop trunk last night. Making progress ....

Thanks for all your help. Sure makes owning a unique car so much better.

Good Morning all,
So pulled the battery cover off and battery marked 2012. When I unhook the car from the battery it is only at 5v. One problem.... How the heck can I move my seat forward since it is a power seat and no power? Really hoping you all have a secret tip.

pull the strap in headrest area to manually tilt seat forward. Remove the ground terminal (-), charge the battery with ground terminal disconnected to try and achieve 12v. If battery cannot get to 12v, won’t be able to do a drain test effectively because all modules won’t be in a sleep state.

Got battery out. Wow... battery so dead I couldn’t get it to not error my chargers. Best I could get was 6v. Used jumper cables from another car to get seat motor to work. Put new battery in and wow what a difference. My charger actually showed fully charged. Never have seen my charger do that.

thanks for all your help.
