With hurricane Ida there have been a ton of flood cars recently, it might be your best bet to pick up a car for the interior for cheap. The downside is that those cars are all out on the east coast, so after fees and shipping, it won't be so cheap.

It seems like Copart prices have been pretty high lately. I have no idea how some of these guys are figuring it's worth it with the money you'd spend on repairs. The only way I was able to get mine was I got lucky and it got put on a Tuesday night special auction the day after it was up and the reserve was met. The seller got frustrated and offered me a price $100 over my max bid so I went with it.

In my opinion, none of this ever makes economic sense. Its more for fun than anything. To resurrect something from the dead. I'm glad people are doing it.

I'll put up some pictures shortly. Needs a new quarter and most of the front-end panels. Its a winter project for me.

At least 2 I recon...hahaha, let me live my lie

Depends on how quickly I find the parts. I do not want to buy new as that will make this build too expensive.

I'm sure you've seen this, but Pacific Motors in Detroit, MI has a rear quarter for a DB9. I've bought some parts from them in the past and they're always very quick with the shipping.

Thanks, yeah I seen those. Unfortunately mine is MY13-16 and all they have is 05-12. I am not sure if they are interchangeable. Is there a guru somewhere that would know this info?

Got a small update. We moved twice, and took time and buckets of motivation to set the garage up (still work in progress)

- bought and programmed new keys, car starts and drives
- nose is stripped with damage missing all frame components…lucky
- rad fixed, all other parts bought from AMBits and mechanically front end is ready for re-assembly
- like a miracle a Used Parts place in ONT acquired a 2015 DB9…I now have two headlights, both bumpers, sideskirt, and rad cover. unfortunately it is a Volante., so no quarter
- short of front grills and rear quarter, I was able to piece everything I need within a very comfortable budget.

I did take the rear apart a bit, but been staying away from the quarter like fire from water. Honestly just scared to dig into that mess back there. I am positive the rear subframe will need to come out 🫣

Being a Mechanical Engineer…I am truly appreciating the design and structure of this car. On the technical level, she’s way up there compared to anything I’ve worked with before.

Thanks,
Art

Awesome job so far! That looks like a new washer fluid reservoir, but if it's not, be sure to check for fine cracks near the top. "They all do that, sir..."

No insight on this particular part, but on exhaust headers they list a new part number and it's identical to the pre-13 headers. There was a pair so cheap on ebay that I took a chance on them and was rewarded. Not sure why AM would change the part. Might be worth finding a local MY13-16 and taking a look at it. Again, making sheet metal dies is expensive ($500K+) and unless they put wider wheels on it (fender flares) I would be surprised if it's not the same pat.

Some of@Art G , but some of it isn't. There's a lot of cross-over parts, but it depends on the part, so if you can, I would recommend sticking with 2004MY-2012MY Project AM803 VH1xx-platform parts (which is what your DB9 is).

My apo@Art G , I meant to say stick with 2013MY-2016MY Project AM803 VH1xx-platform parts! It was a typo mistake on my part! I'd had a long day battling with Bugatti transmissions, was tired and wasn't in best of form! I hope that clears up any confusion.
😉👍

Not that it would apply to Aston parts, but Mat Armstrong on YouTube is rebuilding a vehicle and he was able to buy new body panels at a lower price directly from the dealer than on eBay etc. Just a thought.

Its great to see a few DB9 rebuilds going on at the same time.
