Question Where do you get your service parts?

I have a V8 Vantage and have been doing all my maintenance on my own by purchasing parts and "kits" through Redpants until now. I noticed that a lot of maintenance items are now out of stock through Redpants.

Without reopening the debate about Repants, does anyone know where to get parts such as oil change kits, gear oil change kits, etc... ?

I am aware of Scuderia and VelocityAP but neither seem to provide kits with all required parts in a simple way. I am located in the US, so anything that is local is preferred to save on shipping cost and time.

Thanks!

The trick is to find the alternative Ford / Volvo part and then they become "easy" to source in the US.

I don't think I have ever bought a kit for a DIY job. Everything is source-able.

Also adding to @EJ_Rapide 's point, pistonheads has a thread on alternative parts for AM. It's stickied at the top. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&f=70

A little more expensive, I have purchased filters and drain plugs from AM bits and never had a problem.

I have had good luck with my local Aston dealer when time and/or shipping considerations point in that direction. My first choice is OEM alternative or the proven independent AM parts specialists. But over the years I have developed a good working relationship with the AM dealer parts manager. A lot less painful than developing a relationship with the service department.
(Discounts off list should be expected. I’ve also walked away from stupidly expensive pricing on a few occasions.)

Scuderia will put together a kit for you in essence. I assume Velocity will as well. Have ordered from both companies along with Red Pants.

You may want to ask your local AM dealership's parts department. They may offer a parts discount. Before our local AM dealership changed ownership they were more will to work with parts only customers.

I did a bit of research on the oil bypass filter o-rings (OEM parts # 6G33-6C861-AA).
From the US the best I found for the OEM part is $9.68 per o-ring (without shipping) .

The good thing is o-rings manufacturers have common standards so you can source the same spec from other vendors. Just double check the size and material.
Size: 1 1/2"ID X 1 11/16"OD X 3/32"CS
Material: Fluoroelastomer (FPM, FKM, Viton®)
Duro: 75

Based on specs, this is the correct replacement: https://www.theoringstore.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=367_58_62&p roducts_id=2590 with a unit price of $1.22 .

Or if you want to go the even cheaper way you can get the non-military grade for $0.47 (there are some minimum qantity required) https://www.theoringstore.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=367_79_83&p roducts_id=3619

Disclaimer, I am not an expert in o-rings and that is just based on some online research. Try at your own risks.

Cheers!

Those are universally applicable part numbers....multiple vendors will pop up if you search using them.

If you are looking for a "ready to go kit", I've found this one which has pretty much everything. https://www.steelwings.com/product/6884/V8_Vantage

I am going to try and source every piece separately but purchase enough for a few services. I'll let you know what it ends up costing .

Here are some updates regarding the oil drain plug (6G43-04-10082). It seems it is a very standard part with the following cross references:

BRITISH LEYLAND
1013938
CHRYSLER
6506214AA
6507741AA
68094567AA
FORD
F6TZ6730BA
JAGUAR
AJ83017
AJ88461
MAZDA
LF1310404
YF091046Y
ZZM210407
VOLKSWAGEN
7B0103193

I am going to get one and compare it with the OEM Aston Martin. That would be $5 instead of $15 + $20 for shipping from scuderia

Dorman 090153 is identical to the OEM drain plug. $9.60 for a pack of 5 from Amazon.
