AM radio is dead…
I have a USA 2007 Vantage with a manual transmission. The AM radio band is dead. I know the radio is a Volvo/Alpine unit and a common problem. I understand the was a TSB issued but I can’t find it anywhere on the net. Trying to get an answer from an AM dealer is impossible. I have the Vehicle Build Specifications for my car. I have found aTSB for Volvo related to the AM radio. But I can’t seem to find out if there is an anti-theft code for the radio and what happens if I disconnect the AM radio module? I don’t know what this means from the build sheet ; AM / FM HARNESS: AM/FM Non TMC Harness (HN00). In the US there is a radio repair company that can repair any car for around $100 USD. But I don’t know what will happen if I remove the module will the radio not work again thinking the radio has been stolen? The owners manual does not say anything about a security code.
Any and all information would be great.
Thanks

If you remove the AM/FM module nothing will work. If they can repair it then there's no issue with theft or coding of it. Basically a plug n play module that does have to be connected to the MOST network for everything else to play nicely.

MOST bus anti-theft should be disabled on Fed spec Astons. I know mine is for sure. The radio tuner module is a Volvo unit and should swap out without any issues. Volvo 30732565 for example looks identical to the Aston AM/FM tuner.

Ok here is an update on the radio repair. I talked with United Radio today at length and they say they can not repair the radio. They can not even find the Alpine unit in their vast system. Their suggestion was to try to fine the information on Volvo websites which I had already done. This is a very common problem but without much remedy.

Not surprising. There shouldn't be anything "Alpine" to repair with respect to the radio tuner module. The tuner is a separate module on the MOST bus. It is accessible above the right rear wheel arch behind the wheel arch liner. It may be Aston Martin branded, but it's a Volvo module. I've had mine apart, disconnected, and reconnected on my DB9 without issue when I installed the factory Sirius module a while back.
Later models (2009+) look to have the am/fm tuner integrated into the CD changer, but for 07 it's separate.
