S5 Owners - <<<<VIBRATION>>>>
We have a S5 that we purchased to develop our supercharger system for the 4.2FSI engine. Since day one the car has vibrated between 55-70mph. Since we are a tuner and nothing remains stock for more than 15 minutes we put 20's on the car and lowered it with H&R springs. Car looks sick! BUT...
Still vibrates!!! So we rebalanced the brand new wheels and tires no less than 10 times over the past few months. Finally we were sure it was a tire defect so we ordered a new set of tires. Same problem; it will not go away. If you search here or on Audiworld you will find tons of posts about this problem.
I found out some info from one of the head technical reps for Audi corporate. Apparently they are telling dealers the following in the following order...
1)Road force balance tires
2)If above does not work - replace tires
3)I above does not work - replace tires with Michelin tires. For some reason Michelin is less prone to this issue
4)If 1,2,3, don't work replace "Hydraulic Damper". In other words the shocks.
I am outraged that Audi has not come forward with a fix for this and is coming up with BS fixes like "get Michelin tires". If it is the shocks then Audi needs to make a recall or TSB and get this handled. All they are doing is re-balancing customers tires. We have re-balanced 20 times so i can tell you that its not the fix.
I love the look of this car but hate driving the car with this steering shake, so it mostly sits in the garage.
If you own an A5/S5 that virates through the steering wheel between 55-70mph please chime in. We need to pull together to get something done about this.
