Thinkin' About a 2008 S8
#16
I spoke with Pfaff Audi and they have a 2007 model on the floor without the carbon package but with everything else that is on our option list. I have an option on that car or a factory ordered 2008 model. Factoring in depreciation, etc. is not as big of a deal as the alteration(s) between the two model years. Any insight on what was changed for 2008?
It's a 3 month turnaround on a factory order which may work out well as the winter's annual puke on our roads will be on the way out by then.

New Fog Lights
New Mirrors (With Turn Signals)
New Design 20in Wheels
Extra Aluminum Accents Interior (Starter Button, Doors etc.)
Tighter Steering Ratio
New Tail Light LED Design (MUCH MUCH BETTER)
New Options:
Lane Departure System
Audi Side Assist
and some other stuff I can't recall right now.
Oh hopefully a new key! That stupid old school Jetta key just won't do!!!

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the pics Jon and I will heed your advice and order a 2008 with the carbon kit. Three month turnaround is what I'm told so the countdown is on effective tonight.
Now about that aftermarket......

Great decision I must say! Congrats as well. As for aftermarket, we are **** out of luck. I've done research on this car and all I could find is lowering linkage, lowering modules, MTM exhaust (extremely over priced due to US distributor), MTM chip (only cuts speed limiter), and I guess wheels but the 08 wheels in 20in is very beautiful. I will post pix as soon as I have the car on hand!

I test drove a new '07 S8 last week. It didn't have the B&O sound system so I can't comment on that. What a truly amazing car. I'm not sure it's worth $100K+, considering that's almost what I paid for my house, but the experience was truly amazing. The only things I didn't like about it was the navigation system (too hard to operate and not as user friendly as I'm used to IMO), lack of air conditioned seats, and the CD changer in the glove box (I like to change CDs while I drive and that glove box is a tad too far away for me.) But the black interior with the carbon fiber took my breath away. The sound of the V10 under acceleration and when downshifting (paddle shifters work VERY well) was amazing. The car felt a little heavy when taking quick turns around town but held to the road like glue on sweeping on ramps, etc. I think the car looks great on the outside as well. My favorite color was quartz gray. It looked the best, especially in the front with the chrome around the grill. I would have loved to have seen one in Ibis white, though. I came ever-so-close to buying one last week it was scary. I just couldn't in good conscience spend that much money on an automobile. Right now.

Here's an interesting story. I was at my Porsche dealer yesterday and ended up in a conversation with the guys at the Service Department. I told them about the decision to unload the Cayenne Turbo for the S8. Just short of bowing to pay homage to the ruler of the automotive world, I couldn't believe their reaction to what I had told them. Suffice it to say that these Porsche people were very, very impressed with the decision and the Audi S8.
I really didn't expect that and it just adds to the "excitement factor".
