Car Keyed while with Valet

Car Keyed while with Valet
On New Year's Eve I stayed at a hotel in Downtown Memphis. I was staying at the Westin Beale Street which is one of the nicest hotels in the city (only behind the famous Peabody). I gave my keys to the valet when I arrived at the hotel around 7:00. When i picked my car up the next morning it had been vandalized. The car had been "keyed" across the hood.
Now the valet compnay is saying that they are not responsible for vandalism. They say they are only responsible for the car while they are transporting it. I have spoken to my attorney and know that they had a bailment on the car which means that they are legally responsible for anything.
Short of a lawsuit, which I would like to avoid, what can I do to get them to pay to repaint my hood.

Is Andy Wise still with WMCTV-5? I think I am going to contact him. The man with the valet company is no longer answering my calls.

Def a nice letter from your lawyer..on his letterhead to valet management and hotel management with photos and valet receipt etc should do the trick.
and yes...being a PR guy...negative PR is always bad. If they refuse...get it all in writing and then write a reply letter and send to EVERYONE I mean everyone. The Hotel's corporate headquarters as well as Valet's company and CC everyone in Memphis. Weekly papers, Daily papers, all news stations, websites, so on travel sites, Local Memphis tourism sites etc etc etc. Will take some homework in researching all of this...but it will hurt them pretty bad.
I hope it gets resolved! good luck!

Hmm. . My dad's there with the M5 right now. I hope it doesn't get keyed. Thanks for the warning!

Hey MiniD, The hotel was actually great. Very nice rooms, but they said that they actually had multiple cars vandalized that night. Hopefully nothing happens to the M5. Why did he drive, that is about a 6.5 hour drive (OK maybe 5 hours in the M5)? Also, what brings him to Memphis?

Damn Paul, that sucks man, I hate to hear it. 100% have the lawyer give em a call. that usually gets their attention. BTW, I know you're going to hate that you missed it, but our RS4 cab is now running loose on the streets of Memphis. on a positive note, that gives you a good excuse to get that carbon hood!

I am not too concerned about it as it will not be too bad to repaint the hood. It just angeed me how they handled the situation.
Dustin, I have some good plans to help me overcome that RS4 cab. Is the buyer in Memphis or an out of town buyer.
Plan "Defeat RS4":

That sucks.
Get the letter from your attorney and threaten you will make a statement to the local media / papers regarding this luxury hotel's horrible service and unwillingness to accomodate its guests.
