A4 1.8T ecu options

Is there a site for 1.8T Audi's? My daughters A4 ECU just crapped out and I am looking for a replacement either stock or aftermarket. Sorry for posting here, I am normally on the 996 sections but don't know where to go for Audi advice and used / performance parts

Giac and APR would be the best options for you. You may want to upgrade the diverter valve while at it. Good luck!

Edit: audiworld.com or audizine.com - information overload

Basically You have three main options: APR,GIAC, and Revo.

There all good ecu and pretty much around the same price.
I know that all of these companies allow a 6 hour or longer trial. Best bet is to try them out.

Are they all stand alone or modified factory. Is there a place you would recommend to just buy a used factory ecu. Thanks for your help

if the ecu is just crap you might be able to buy a used ecu from the same year model a4 and have it flash the cars vin info and data info to the next ecu. Ecu can be found a salvage yards but I just ask the audi shops (tuner or repair).

You might be able to find what you're looking for in the For Sale section of Audizine.com. There are some ECU's for sale there that might interest you. What is the configuration of your car? Year/drivetrain/transmission/engine?

The car is a 1998 A4 with a 5sp. So i guess that is a B5. Can a replacment ECU from another year 1996-2001 just be put in and it will work, or does it need to be serial number coded to the car?

Im not sure, but i think since 1999 they started to reflash the ecu instead of actually chipping it
