Yeah, I've got two Audi's, a B5 S4 and a B6 A4. If you stay away from certain models notorious for maintenance (ie. B5 S4 and C5 RS6), which you obviously are with 07'+, and you'll likely find no more maintenance issues than any BMW or Mercedes. Coil packs suck, but seem to have been rectified and aren't too big of an issue anyways. Window regulators seem to suck in alot of the older cars, but I don't know about the newer ones. If you look at the issues listed above most of the issues seem to be minor and not mechanical in nature. I would feel safe with my daughter in an Audi because of its safety and quattro, but that's me.

I know it totally depends on the model and individual car, but I'd say Audi did pretty well according to this.

I have a 2004 Audi A8L. It has over 109,000 miles on it. I have purchased an extended warranty to 97,000 miles and another to 133,000 miles. There has been over $35,000 spent on maintenance on this car. I would not own an Audi without a warranty. I will be happy to send a copy of my maintenance records to a moderator or they can contact Maplewood Audi in MN.

My first and last Audi was an '04 S4.

With 300 miles on it I threw a valve (at 35 MPH).

Audi denied ever having any issues (a third of these cars had issues reported on an Audi enthusiasts website) and ordered me a new engine. After months of waiting the car was lemoned.

After 3 months more I received a refund.

Both Audi and the dealer really handled it poorly.

I wouldn't own an Audi ever again.

My wife has a 2001 TT Roadster which has had more than it's share of problems. The standard maintenance cost far exceed those of my 997.

I've had two issues that clearly should have been covered under the CPO warranty however somehow they weren't. One is a faulty cluster that has LEDs going out. The other is a mass air flow sensor.

Keman -

CORRECTION - that was the next thread that 6speed tacked on to yours! >>Your topic seems to have drifted into who owned what Audi's & Audi-bashing -

whereas I was drawn to you're finding a nice Cay E-hybrid & at a decent price, because we'd been looking for one a a tow vehicle & 3rd/4th car DD in 2019-20 pre-COVID, but decided to put it on hold until we can actually use it to tow our vintage 1960 Avion T20 (1961 MY - looks like Airstream), & prices normalize again.

A heads-up on your Extended Warranty - if it's Car Shield, beware that they have been stopped from issuing policies in CA because they can't meet our & other states' insurance dept. standards &/or too many problems/complaints; & last I checked they were F rated by BBB - so they filed a lawsuit against BBB! WT*!?

IMHO, the Porsche or Audi & other well reputed dealer CPOs are worth getting, but even those have had issues. It may be best is to take the premium $$$'s & stick it in a savings account to offset repair costs.

Porsche finally also started putting that Audi 3.0T into both the EH & Base Cayenne in 2019 MY, & they both on gas alone have almost as much HP & TQ as the original 955 era CayS NA V8s that I dreamed abut getting if we ever got a trailer. I think that Porsche tweaked the Audi version a tad, but both are great engines from folks I know with both, & there are a lot of folks on the Airstream Forum that tow with both (see nailed thread Cayenne/Touareg/Q7).

Nice set of "Pooch Pads" in the CayEH too!

I look forward to hearing from you on longer term driving, living with & maintaining your CEH, & from other CEH owners on here - especially any towing with them.

My only concern with the CEH towing - vs my prior target 2011-14 CayS NA V8 - is lugging the used up batteries in the mountains - but the advantage is that we can use it in pure EV around town for 90% of my wife's errands locally here in SoCal/OC - rather than my prior plan of buying the CayS V8 + another EV car/cuv for DD use.

Also - at going on 50 you're not too old yet, but you'll get there. At 69 & 75, we still drive sticks with our `85 BMW 325e E30 & my `73 914-2.0 (both 5-spd), but my wife has always preferred "her" AT `88 VW Westy - which is also our newest car (it's AT lasted 150K+ before rebuilt), although we've always rented numerous new cars/trucks when traveling & towing over the past 21-22+ years.

PS Keman - as a retired Audi Tech/Mechanic - do you have any professional opinions on whether their new-to-the-USA A6 line's Avant S6 wagon being fitted-out here with a USA style 2" receiver hitch to tow our Avion (3000-3500 lbs & 542 HW - but 160# is the Hensley Cub WD/AS hitch, so only 382# from trailer) - since they do sell the Tow Option/Hitch in EU/UK & ROW with a 5000" trailer & 500# HW rating (or more)??

Holiday Cheers!
Tom
