My R8 taken down by M6
#32
The R8 is amazing in a few areas, but straight line speed isn't one of them. And the R8's isn't known for its outright handling more so the accesibility of its handling compared to other mid engined cars, especially at the limit. And even on the smaller tracks, a average driver against a above average driver in the M6 would lose.

No but something faster than a M6, don't get me wrong from 6,000 to 8,000 rpm it moved out. It just seemed slow at anything other than full chat. Not the right engine for a car weighing nigh on two tons, no wonder it needs 7 close ratio gears!

The R8 is definitely a sweet car, but it's losing out the exclusivity factor. I was initially going to pick one up and cancelled when the market started tanking. Now a quick search on autotrader results in over 150 '09 models available over the U.S.

If you want an exclusive, modern exotic, you'll have to spend at least $500K. Everything under that is sitting on a a showroom floor as we speak.

Having driven with multiple R8's on the track I can say those things can tear it up. I'd love to get to drive one on the track myself!
I've also seen 2 new CTS-V's in person as well. Beautiful cars as well! The M5 has always been my dream daily driver, but now it's a tossup between the CTS-V and the M5.

Really? A R8 V10 for roughly $50k? The SC runs around 35K or so, but I have no idea what install charges would be? I think there are other FI companies with kits for the R8 as well.
