Specking the R8 V10

I have the R-tronic on mine R8V8. It's quite decent and fits my needs. But it's nowhere near the F-1 tranny on the F-cars. Very similar to the SMG-II on the BMW. I think a 6speed is better if you track the car a lot. And the Rtronic is better for street cruising or traffics.

I have the R-Tronic and love it. I do not use the Auto mode ever. The paddle shifters work very well and I rarely use the shift lever. Everything I have heard about tracking the car suggests that the R-Tronic is quicker and safer than the manual transmission.
The only option I don't think I would order is the ceramic brakes. They are expensive and since I do not track my car I see very little reason for this option. Color is individual taste, but I would order all the CF you can order.

Black on black is a popular color combination. Most people when they see this combination in person comment there is not enough contrast.
I know of nobody that has an R-Tronic transmission that is not happy with it...in the manual mode with paddle shifters. Go on R8talk and see the threads of peoples opinions.

I would go all out and order it in Venetian Purple, everything CF including the blades! Ceramics are a must (I have the ceramics on my RS4 Avant and I love them! It's also a bit of a prestige/bragging rights thing, would never go without, and laugh at RS6's that dont have them). No offence to R-Tronic owners but be a man and take the 6-speed (could help resale, because it rarely gets ordered in the states).
Titanium wheels to go with the whole package (5 twin spoke V8 rims, as I think the new V10 wheels look horrible).
An alternative would be the lovely Sepang blue, I saw a C6 RS6 Avant here in Zurich with that colour and it looks absolutely fabulous especially in sunlight!
Let us know what you went for!
P.S: Black interior

The R-Tronic isn`t worth the the few thousand dollars extra imho as it is NOT a dual-clutch transmission.
it isn´t really bad or something and times on the Ring suggest that on the track it is as quick as the manual. Also, Audi made a few software updates on the newer R-Tronic Generations in the V8 and it works really smooth now for daily use.
BUT i would rather spend the xtra dosh on the ceramic brakes or a good exhaust system than on the R-tranny. the manual is really fine, nice looking and nice to handle.

I'd go with manual for sure. The latest (May issue I believe) of either C&D or R&T had a long review of the manual, the journalists raved about it and said it would be their personal choice.
As far as color, I would not do a black. I would do an Audi Exclusive color, their color pallete is ginormous as now you can pick any Lambo, Bentley, Porsche, VW color. Be bold!!! This car WANTS it! LOL

Check out this Sepang Blue on the R8 V10, I like that a lot.

Also, search the boards for folks that have had the factory visit in Neckarlsrum, there is a full section devoted to Audi Exclusive trim options (colors, leathers, rims, steering wheels, etc.) I think Bentley has a very dak purple (eggplant like) color, very rich and not gaudy at all (similar to the old school E34 M5s if you recall). I think that would look dynamite on the V10 R8.
I'll try and see if I can dig something up, but your dealer ought to have a sample as well.
