Need Guidance on Buying Audi!!!!
Hi, I am looking to trade even my 99 Dodge Dakota pickup truck for a 99 Audi A4 2.8 V6 awd.
My truck: 88K miles, 5 speed, V8, 4x4
Audi: 150K miles, 5 speed, V6, AWD
The owner of the Audi says he replaced lots of parts on this car (I am getting a list soon) because Audis tend to "fall apart" around 100k miles. He says the car is from S. Carolina and is mint with no rust...never seen a Maine winter (where I live now...why I need a truck or awd vehicle).
1. Would I be stupid to do this deal? What are some common problems with these cars that I should watch out for?
2. Are Audi parts alot more pricey? Ive never owned a German car (only american and jap)
3. I will be test driving the car this Saturday. Can someone with some knowledge on these cars give me some pointers on what to look for and ask about?
Thanks in advance!

I have owned three Audi's: '99 A6 2.8, '04 A8L and '09 R8. You can find some really good prices ($14-24K) on used Audi's that are still under factory warranty ( www.luxurymotors.com ). I purchased an extended warranty on my A6 and A8L. I would highly recommend you purchasing an extended warranty for any Audi. I purchased mine from Automotive Product Consultants, 888-485-4337. Their prices were a little higher, but they covered everything with their platinum coverage.

1. If I were you I would see if you could find an Audi with less miles. These cars typically have transmission and suspension issues. Not to mention the timing belt or chain. Definitely have any Audi checked out by an Audi expert (not necessarily the dealer).
2. Parts are not cheap. Definitely get a 3rd party warranty (carchex is what I use). I would also recommend Autoscope for any repair needs
3. Look for leaks, unusual engine noise, transmission whine, popping from the suspension

on a 150k mile car, the history needs to be spotless otherwise i would pass. I have heard that the 1.8 4cyl engine tends to wear better then the 2.8v6 over time. Not fact, just what i have heard
