knowing about it and doing something about it are two different things.

I think all high performance cars should have a Air/oil seperator or catchcans installed right from day 1 of buying it before you start to mod.

You are 100% correct and I wish that I had done it on my Audi when it was new. It's now on the list, .. I have been so busy doing things to the Atom, I didn't even see my daily driver in front of me.

I had an RS4 last year and it sucked oil the first 1000 miles, then I started tracking it and surprisingly stopped needing oil. I never topped it off the remaining 10000 miles that I owned it (although I did do three oil changes). During the break-in period of around 1500 miles I was driving it very actively, constantly changing speeds, gears, RPMs between 4 - 7k, and compression braking. Rarely leaving it in 6th gear at any time.

My R8 lost 2 quarts of oil in the first 3000 miles, using the same approach above, and started tracking it at 2000 miles. Hasn't needed any new oil the last 5000 miles.

Maybe it's random results but the pattern I have experienced is: give it a load from the very beginning, but not to its max, then get it to its max often after the break-in period (1500 miles), and the oil consumption has dramatically fallen off. At least in my case.

I add about a half quart at 3000 miles on my twin-turbo Audi and I beat the hell out of it.
