I have a questions for you.. While our clear bra guy may not use the same film as you do you have a recommendation for bug stains?? not sure in cali fi you even have the same bugs but these guys have like an acid in them.. it stains the film a little.. not like a color but you can see the bug splat i guess is the easiest way to describe, even after washing it.. any ideas??

What product is used by your vendor?

 

I would know the name if i heard it.. A company recently bought by 3m is what i was told but not 3m film.. Ill find out.. if anything rings a bell let me know and ill recognize the name.. My installer is AWESOME.. I read all your threads so i know what to look out for and he does work very much like your guys but maybe the film isnt up to par if the bugs stain it?? I had bird crap also eat it that i left sit on the headlight he covered.. Wont come off..

 

Any referrals for shops in Chicago that do comparable quality work?

That is an awesome install guys. I don't think anyone who doesn't install PPF can appreciate how challenging that hood install is. The car owners in Cali are fortunate to have you guys.

This is completely incorrect! Rock chips and dings in the film ARE transferred to the paint in most cases. They are visible and unsightly while the film is on the car(especially as it ages and accumulates more wear and tear, bug stains, etc.). When the film is removed, the underlying paint frequently comes up with the film over places where the film has absorbed a hit.

In addition, you will not be able to achieve the luster of a well detailed finish when your car is covered in this glorified Saran wrap. It's about as satisfying as sitting on Grandma's plastic covered couches was back in the 60's.

Some people may be happy with these finishes but they certainly aren't without their drawbacks.

 

We have been in this industry since 1997 and we cannot recall once where paint came up due to road debris hitting the film. The only time paint comes up is when it is not OEM paint under the film and only if the aftermarket paint was poorly done.

The items you have listed are likely due to poor material used either on your vehicle or on other vehicles you have seen it on.

It looks so OEM.

 

That is the point....true clear bra should be fairly "clear"
