GIAC/VF-Engineering R8 Supercharger live install in Houston

VF offers the service of flying out to (almost) anywhere in the world to supervise / install it's R8 supercharger system. This month they have landed in Texas.

DAY1: Today the techs will begin an install on a Houston R8. The owner has opted for a Stasis exhaust also and we will be documenting the installation in real time on this thread.

(MWH) Motorworks Houston specialize in high end and exotics maintenance and modifications. They have been very hospitable and are on the same page as us when it comes to customer relations. This is their showroom>

Here is Bobby's V8 waiting patiently after having baseline datalogs collected.

Ready for Mike to operate.

Here the stock intake manifold is being removed to make way for the TVS1900

Ported billet base tray mounted to heads.

Pre-install inspection of billet supercharger manifod.

Laying down the upper manifold with TVS1900

8-rib setup for overkill

Corner shot

oops. Wrong wrong link above. Thats my M3.
Anyway, here is the VF front air/water cooler radiator.

We are now wrapping up for the day.
Good progress today (starting at 10am ending 6pm). 70% of the kit is installed!

Tomorrow: balance 30% then road test followed by Stasis exhaust.

Actually, the day did not end there. Bobby brought some tickets to the Marlins Vs Astros at Minute Maid Park.

Below> Final steps. The water reservoir is installed.

Water lines and pump being put in polsition.

Final Step step: ECU flashing engine management recalibration. Using our custom programming suite from GIAC, both ECUs are reprogrammed through the OBD2 port. Our software writes the entire ECU, and can update it if it an old OEM software revision is present. This particular GIAC calibration includes a 91/93 program, as well as a switchable 100 octane program, and valet mode.

And now time to fire it up for the first time with the supercharger: (youtube video)

$25k! Why not just buy a V10 and get a better, more powerful engine from the get go?

The VF charger actually makes more torque and power than the V10 without adding all the weight of the V10.

I'm sort of with you though, the price gap from the V8 to V10 in Canada is 30K. Charger + install is over 30K. V10 noise + warranty wins for me.
