I'm starting to look at my next car, and I'm REALLY impressed with the R8 (even the V8 felt really nice). My wife is also quite taken by the R8 and the S5. I was wondering if either of these are going to get a dual-clutch transmission anytime soon.

Not sure why you had to offer the silly out-dated opinion... Perhaps you're right. Maybe that's why Porsche would NEVER put a dual clutch system in the 997TT. Ferrari should stay away from it too.

Two kinds of people I guess.
- Those who dry hump statistics about how a dual clutch push-button/lever version of a car is [1.2 seconds] faster around a race track on the other side of the world by a professional driver. They also tell people it isn't an automatic transmission and quickly talk about how it shifts [.3 seconds] faster while they dodge parking cones in an open parking lot. (can you tell I'm deep in the automotive social scene? Get to hear it all. Heh.)
- Those who know don't pretend they are racing their car and still like to be a fully integrated part of the driving experience(i.e. manual tranny) since, you know, 99% of us are enthusiasts who buy these cars to drive on the roads... not in races where actual lap times matter.
Push button cars are boring. Zzzzzzzzzz
Heh. Relaaaax. It's an opinion.
ALSO! I was just chatting with a mechanic buddy at the Audi dealer and he said the S5 is getting a 7 speed dual clutch tranny. There ya go!

Again - thanks for your info. I appreciate it very much.
Two types of people:
#1 those who think that a 6sp is better because it's more fun, but slower.
#2 those who enjoy a dual clutch, while passing those on track who think that 6spd manuals are more fun.
