APR chip for R8 5.2

I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with the software upgrade. Have you done any other upgrades to the car? Did your dealer program the car with the matching octane that is in your gas tank? I can't think of any reason they the 20+ clients that I have sold the software to are happy with their purchase and you are not.
What do you mean when you feel like the turbo kicks in at 3 or 4 thousand since you have an S6 and it is not turbo charged?

Hi Matt,
You are correct, cannot explain why it feels like Turbo.
When it reach 3-4 RPM, car vibrate & shoot out.
I am taken the next step now, calling APR directly.

Will keep posted.

He's saying that it feels like nothing happens...then a big uneven hit of torque at 3-4k, like a turbo hitting boost.
He's also in Vancouver so I'd submit that he's certainly not suffering from octane defficiency as 91 and 94 are readily available.

that's because it's a 1.8 or 2.0 with a K03 turbo, and a boost request change adds 30hp and even more torque
on an R8 5.2 an APR 'chip' (flash) will be nearly imperceptible with the exception of exaggerated throttle, an increased rev limiter, an increased top speed (no limit) and a pile of timing thrown at the car that is mostly corrected back.
There will be very few changes to driving dynamics, and their needing to hire a COMPETITOR to tune their RS4 SC kit is a great example of this. They brought JHM's tuner in to 'fix' their crap tune.
APR RS4 SC with the APR file ran 12.6-12.7 @ 109-110
APR RS4 SC with the JHM file ran 11.8-12.0 @ 115-116
Only thing changed was software. I spoke with JHM's tuner and he made OVER 50 CHANGES to the tune. APR admitted JHM's involvement in their press release after than ran 11.8, but almost as quickly, tried to redact the statement and deny JHM's involvement. Epic fail by APR on integrity as well as tuning.
I think that says a lot about APR's tuning. If there's not a good baseline tune where they can just add boost, they struggle to make power on any car. When they had to build that RS4 SC tune, the car was barely faster than stock (despite a $20,000 kit pricetag)

My next suggestion was actually to take yourself to an R8 forum and see what they say the best is. seems they like APRs tune over there. But there may be others. I don't know cause I don't own one lol but one day I plan on it

Because the R8 V10 is the detuned version of Lambo 560hp motor it was pretty easy for APR to get that power back and they admit that. Before supercharging I did APR 93 octane tune on my R8 V8, Dyno'ed before and after and found gains to be about half what they claimed. APR gains were 12 hp and 7 tq gain at wheels. Still felt for a little less than a $1k the gains were worth it since it also improved the way the car drove. Biggest problem I have with APR is besides my R8 I also did my previous RS4 and they never came out with full program for either of them and I'm sure same is going to happen with the V10. Seems the duel ECU's is giving them problems

My technical support rep is out sick today so my timeline may not be exactly correct, however this is what I was able to fine. I did some research and saw one customer flashing between stock and 91 octane several times. This customer has a naturally aspirated S6, so it's not turbocharged. Our ECU Electrical Engineer tasked with creating the files and hosting them on our server was able to pull up a report of all customers with this specific box code and software revision and noted no other customers have complained. This customer flashed back to stock on the 27th. I believe his dealer alerted us of strange behavior with the customers flash after returning to stock. It's not possible to go into full detail about this strange issue during the flash, but it sounded specific to his particular vehicle and function was changed in case any others exhibited the same behavior in the future.
On 4/7 he flashed the car with 91 Stage I twice in a row.
On 4/16 he went back to stock then back to 91 Stage I again.
On 7/25 he went back to stock.
I'm not sure his dealer was working with us on this issue. It appears they tried flashing it back and forth for diagnosis reasons. Again, my technical support rep is out sick today so I'm unable to ask if he worked on this case. I confirmed the flashing routine was altered on 7/29 so he should be fine if he were to ever get the software again.
I would like mention we do flash several hundred ECU's a day and issues are few and far between. Regardless we keep a log of every single ECU upgrade so we can always look back at the logs if anything strange ever occurs.

Yep, pretty much.

There isn't much support for these brands in the US or Canada. Your looking at sending your ECU over seas for ABT and mailing it out to the states at the very least for MTM and they aren't any better than APR. In fact they don't have even 1/4th the global brand recognition that APR has.

That is until they performance tested their cars. I'm talking about measuring acceleration.
The guys you want to talk to are the guys who
a) have had it for a few months
b) have other options for making power
Since there are very few R8 5.2 cars running around...even fewer are APR tuned...it's tough to get any long term impressions. Since there are virtually no performance parts that work well on the R8 5.2 other than high dollar forced induction kits, people are 'satisfied' by jumping over a much lower hurdle than they would be if there was a robust market full of great parts.
This happened on every normally aspirated Audi performance car over the past 10 years. It's a broken record.
