Help Me pick a car
Hey Guys,
I have been posting this in different parts of 6speed to see the pros and cons to the cars I am looking at. I am really interested to hear what you guys think
I am on the hunt to add a toy to my collection. I already have an 11 Cayenne S, and a 68 Chevelle. I am now looking for an exotic to round off the collection. I am looking at the following cars (mostly due to them falling in my price range of 160-220k.
Audi R8 V10
Aston Martin V12 Vantage
Bentley Continental GT Super Sport (dealer has 2 leftovers at huge discount)
Porsche 911 Turbo S
Ferrari California
I am looking at new or very slightly used versions of all of these cars.
I am looking for a car that is a mostly daily driver (I have my Cayenne for Hauling) and is somewhat comfortable.

V12 Vantage all the way.
911 & R8 are predicable answers on this forum. They're the better driver's cars.
911's are not exotic, regardless of the model unless you're a gear-head.
If you want exotic to impress yourself get the Aston or maybe the Bentley (but they're not quite as bespoke as the Aston but would be a better DD)..... If you want to impress the neighbors get the Ferrari.

I just bought a lightly used 2010 R8 V10. It is the best DD high performance car I've ever driven/owned. The ride is so compliant even on broken up roads, and yet still highly controlled. Also very fast; not Porsche TT fast, but rapid never the less. I love mine.

So for an exotic that has panache and more than enough speed and presence, get original and do the non-911.

I happen to love my R8 5.2 and have a good friend with a 997 TT. Like this group says, they're both great cars. I also am in love with the looks of the Vantage, but even with the V12 it's not as quick as the others. One of the biggest factors IMHO is who locally will do the work and do you trust them? Buying a car is one thing. Keeping it well maintained is another.
