Ibis white TT RS_ very close to pulling trigger
Forvthose of you who have seen my earlier posts, you would have noticed I'm looking to shed my S4 and replace it with a more fun and viceral car.
I have considered a used 997.1, an AMG C63 coupe, even selling my Aston and S4 and running an R8 V10 year round.
997.1= fantastic car. Likely the purist of the bunch and my favorite. If I was only having one car, this would be it. I even considered selling the Aston and getting a GTS, but the Vantage is just too special. It's also a more pure driving machine than most people imagine.
AMG C63= awesome engine, truly inspired. The rear tires are just too small and you cannot easily change them out. I was very close to getting on the list for the "Black Series". They wanted 10k to hold a car. I love that car, but it's pretty pricey and honestly, the standard C63 should have had that body kit if it wanted to be extreme. Tempted by the wider track and tires.
R8 V10= amazing car. My best friend has one and there is very little the car cannot do. It is a little bit too civilized, I wish it felt harder and was louder. My Aston is more viceral (though slower). As much as I like it, I could never see me choosing it over my Aston. Amazingly capable, but less bespoke.
TT RS= the best choice for me. It has a very unique engine note. The performance is stellar, better with a flash and Haldex remap. I love the size and the sense of occasion (as brutal as the C63 is on acceleration, after a while it still feels like a regular car. My S4 did too, my Vantage never does). I love the all weather ability and the relatively low volumes.
I do wish the steering had more feel and less assist at low speeds. I'm wondering if the Toyo's are up to the task (I will track this car in the summer)? I have heard the brakes are not cut out for track, do they need to be addressed?
So, once again it looks like I'm gonna buy a TT. I managed to get a very good deal on an ibis white car (my S4 is white) with the titanium package. I wanted black with the aluminum package. The white looks great though.

TT RS tires
The OEM Toyos suck IMHO so I replaced them with RE11's as soon as my TT RS got here. I did drive on the Toyos for a week. The RE11 totally transform the steering feel and ride. The Toyos were harsh out of sport mode and downright brutal in sport mode. The Bridgestones ride better in sport mode than the Toyos out of sport and the steering response is way better and accurate.Still a bit overboosted but much sharper.Brakes need upgraded pads - I'm installing Pagid RS4-2 endurance racing pads with stainless steel lines,Motul 600 anf installing drilled stock size rear rotors. Will also remove the dust shields to aid cooling. Haldex controller with wireless switcher and tranny mount from HPA also going in.

Bought the TT RS, just drove it home today. A few thoughts:
Nice car, fun to drive.
The steering is better than I remember.
The stereo is crap.
Fantastic little motor. Can't wait to remap it.
The sport exhaust is no where near loud enough. (my Aston is the gold standard)
Love the size of the car.
It's pretty invisible on the road.
Just getting used to the way the turbo comes on. You have to push it.
Ordered my carbon splitter and rear wing today.
Silver racing stripe is a possibility.
Pics to come.

If you have the Bose for some reason if you hook up an IPOD the stereo sounds much better. Super clear. The radio,SD card and sirrus is not that great. I'm not sure why The IPOD sounds better

I purchased my TT RS here in Vegas last August. Bought it after testing driving the C63 AMG, Corvette Z06, BMW M3 and Porsche Boxster Spyder. It's an unbelievably quick car...just unbelieve in how fast it is.
The tires seem fine really. I've had them on the track at Spring Mountain and they held up rather well but did heat up a bit too much after 12 or so laps. The TT RS is truly a track ready car.

When you say heat up, do you mean the brakes? If not, what as the ambient temperature?
I bought this car to take to the track. It will be the car I mod. Pretty excited actually.
Been driving it and it's just so much fun. I love the fizzy sound of the engine, the business you get from such a small wheel base. It might be heresy, but this reminds me a lot of my Boxster S. The cars are obviously different, but they scratch the same itch.
The TT RS is a blast to run through the gears and it just begs you to sit on the boil. Bad for mileage, good for the soul.
Visibility is excellent. The car is very easy to place.
The brakes seem fine, though to be honest I have not really pushed them. I also have the dreaded squeal at slow speeds. Does a change in pads address this?
The best thing about this car is how it makes driving a slower speeds fun. I used to have to push the S4, in order to have fun. The TT RS has a much better sensation of speed. The Boxster S was also like this.
