GMP Audi S3 running in the 2012 Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge
Nothing compares to the excitement of a high-performance track machine in its element. For several years, Grassroots Motorsports magazine has invited the coolest track cars in the country to strut their stuff in our annual Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge, and the 2012 event is shaping up to be the best yet. The UTCC will return to Virginia International Raceway’s Full Course on Friday, July 20, 2012 and Grassroots Motorsports has chosen our Audi S3 racecar to compete representing the European brands. Our S3 hasn't done much racing in 2012 but we have converted it over to E85 and participated in a few track days. We are looking forward to participating in this event and seeing how we stack up against the other competitors. If any of you are in the area, stop by our pit paddock and show your support.

Hey guys, wanted to post up a weekend review....The morning practice session started at 8:30am. The S3 ran great and we had a chance to break-in our new Carbotech pads and BFG R1 tires. Our first of three timed sessions started just before 11am so we took care of final prep on the car (I.e. event sponsor decals). We also had Grassroots Motorsports come over and asked us to take a couple pictures of the car
Our practice time put us in 2nd place in the B run-group and that's where we lined up to start the timed laps. The first session went well clocking off a 2:10.4 but we ran off track with all four wheels at the uphill esses towards the end of run so our time was DQ'ed.
We started the second session 15th on grid and had to pick our way through slower traffic to get some running room. Our fastest time was a 2:11.1 as we caught the front runners by the end of the session.
The third session started from the third place spot on the grid behind a Corvette and Subaru. The first few laps were heavily contested with the diversity of the front running cars. Unfortunately, early in the session our S3's engine lost power and we shut it down to prevent any potential damage, coasting into the pits. We are loading the car tonight and will start taking it apart once we get home to figure out what happened.
We would like to thank all our fans for following along and offering so many words of encouragement this past week. A big thank you to the team holding it down back at GMP while we were out today. Also, thanks to BFG, Carbotech brakes for their continued support. The tires and pads held up abd performed well in the "July Fry" heat up here at the track. Thanks to PMC for letting a test last week and thanks to Audizine.com, we will post some event photos on the site soon.
