Adventures in Aventurine...

A couple of months ago I helped a good friend from Evahboost buy his first Audi which was a 2009 A6 3.0T. That car was a Prestige package car that had the Stasis exhaust and software. Even with the standard suspension that car is real sweet. Fast forward to the week before last and we find my wife and I at the Boulder CO Audi dealer and we're driving a 2013 A6 3.0T. Very nice but when we start to figure the pricing the way she wants it equipped and we're over 70k. I then start to look in earnest for a slightly used variant. That's when I come across this beautiful 2011 Aventurine Blue with contrasting Amaretto Milano leather A6 out in Woodland Hills, CA. Its a Prestige package car with the Sport package, 19" wheels and only 16k miles.

I call the dealer, Auto Gallery Audi, and start a long distance negotiation. Now this is the same dealer that has the showroom on the hill off Highway 101 that shows off their other lines which include Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche,,,, yeah they stock a few nice cars besides this one. Anyways, I'm having a hard time trying to nail down this Aventurine color because its different in almost every picture. This is just like her old A6 which was Cashmere Grey. So I get hooked up with a fairly new audi sales guy, Andree Khaziran, who was very helpful and got the answer to every one of my questions. The negotiations went to an accommodating price and we had a deal. Well, we flew out to SoCal on Wednesday to pickup her, new to her, car and to spend Christmas with our family. We get there and the car was a few minutes late after having been sent out the day before to be fully detailed. I checked it all over and we took it out for a shake down ride and wow, it was too nice. We signed all the papers and were out the door with minimal delay.

Now to the car itself. I find myself here in Oceanside with my bride and her new car. I've got about 400 miles of driving it over the last couple of days and all I can say is wow! This car is today's equivalent of our much loved urS4/6s. It is fast, quick and comfortable with all of the up to date electronic wizardry of 21st century cars. My guess is that its faster than an RS2 equipped S-car. Its definitely quicker. The Sport suspension should have been available for our cars because this car handles very unAudi like. It turns in with the best of them. The only ride flaw comes from my wife who thinks its a bit too harsh. I'm gonna try taming those 19s with a dose of 18s to see if the ride softens a little. Funny though, she always loved the fat hunkered down look of her 4.2 and has that same feeling for this car's looks but doesn't like the low profile of the 19s. The stance of the car from the outside view is just perfect. The only issue is a some weakness in the braking. We'll probably go with some kind of a BBK in the near future.

Now on to that color. It is BEAUTIFUL. Just plain beautiful. And that Aventurine Blue color with the Milano Amaretto leather interior is simply stunning. The regular Amaretto option is a black and tan affair that doesn't quite pull it off for me. The full Milano Amaretto is,,, well here:

Hap, wit dakine Aventurine/Amaretto not from Evahboost, Maguire
