Stick. Daily driven. 19.6 MPG all city with 93 octane mode. SUPER reliable due to that fact that all the parts are Euro spec OEM with the exception of the coil-overs and full exhaust. (no cats) Even my SSK is a modified OEM so it doesn't have the notchy feeling. All my friend's are constantly tuning their Sti's and other cars.. while I just press the gas and go.... and win!

I drive an E36 M3, but have not driven a B5 S4 so I can't judge them comparatively.

S4's are great daily drivers, especially if its K04'd. I've put 60k miles on mine at full stage 3 and its been very reliable for a car making over 450hp.

for the original question. stasis susp, sways (if you want), short shifter, drive train stabilizer will make massive differences. If you really want to get into it, you can get adjustable upper links for the susp.
yep thats about it

It's reliable provided you maintain it. As with any german car, sometimes you get a bad one and average maintainence costs are higher than some other cars. I'd expect around 20 mpg with stage 3 depending on how you drive. Do not get an auto if you're thinking of going to stage 3. The auto tranny isn't capable of reliably handling that power.

yup...RS4 clutch is a good upgrade......with a good suspension setup, short shifter and DTS/Snub combo, and perhaps some upgraded rear sway bars...you'll have a pretty tight, great handling AWD car that is fast and fun for anything (Track, Strip, Daily Driving, Winter Driving Trips, and smoking some fast cars as well)
