Audi S4 B5 Twin Turbo as daily driver
What do you guys think of a Audi s4 2000-2002 ? How is reliability? Does the Giac/Apr ecu chip make a huge difference, does this also come at reduced reliability to the turbos? What are some mods that will make a difference (downpipe, ecu, exhaust?)

The 2.7t motor is one of the best audi has ever made, right behind the 20vt 5 Cyl.
The 2.7t started out life as a diesel motor and made its way into production being WAY over engineered. When the 2.7t got around to cosworth, they realized only slight changes needed to be made to make the motor worthy of 400hp day in and day out, for 100k miles at a time. This would be the B5 RS4 motor.
Tuners across the united states now know that the 2.7t with larger turbos can handle almost anything you throw at it. With fully forged interanals from the factory, it is no wonder that the 2.7t made its way on the SPEEDVISION WORLD CHALLEGE as an Audi S4 (B5) Race Car compliments of Champion Motorsport.
THe above statement, by the misinformed fool, is referring to the oem turbos on the b5 s4. These little K03s are not adequate for good power, and prove to be unreliable. Switching the turbos over to the larger K04s that came on the B5 RS4 make the motor solid as a rock.
Companies have been fondling with larger turbo options (GT28RS) in particular and have actually had a stock block'd 2.7t (no internals) running around with OVER 600WHP.
This motor can make 480WHP day in and day out on a completely stock motor, for many, many miles. It is a great motor and one of the best audi has ever made. The only other motor that could handle more punishment was Audi's 20vt motor which has made its mark in history.
Next time, experiance more, talk less.

Also had a completely modified B5 S4 ('01). No major problems, would recommend you keep a budget for K04s as the K03s aren't the most reliable turbos in the world. I had full Stage III on mine and aside from regular maintenance it was a fantastic daily driver.

did the Giac Chip make it a whole new car? I mean 380 Lbs of torque with a chip is very impressive. How much would a set of K04's run for?
Also how is gas mileage once the car get's a new ecu?

I had a 2000 Nogaro blue Stg 2+, chipped it at 6k sold it with 64k on the odo. Never had one problem and the guy I sold it to hasn't either and he has put at least 10k on it since he bought it. XR on 100 octane was nice, K04's would have been nicer!!!

not sure if he'd ever part with the car, it's absolutely impeccable and with low miles.

Is the engine reliable.....YES!!!
Is the chasis reliable......no. Go over to audizine.com and check out the B5 S4 forum. While there are plenty of daily driven B5 S4's. They can get very expensive to keep up. Nothing big, just little things like bearings and bushings can add up over time.
However, the sweetest thing that I can think of would be a 600AWHP B5 Avant (station wagon). That would be the ultimate sleeper. Short of a GT700 Porsche you should be covered for most things on the street.
