Please do yourself a favor and buy the S4... I really wouldn't put my trust in a 1st year turbo motor made by a company that hasn't made a turbo engine in almost 20 years... Lets all remember what happened to the E46 M3 engine in 2001 and 2002. They had to extend the warranty to 100K on some cars. They finally got it right in 2003.

Audi, like all companies, have their issues but I am on my 5th Audi and have had nothing but the best time owning one. ;o) Not to mention, they have the most experience with AWD and arguably the best system out there. Just my 2cents

I have a 07 rs4 and I drive the **** out of it in the city and On the HWY. My trip computer says that I average 24.5 mpg. The 335 did not do it for me.
So plus one for the S4.

That's a different story-- I'd DEFINITELY take an RS4 over a 335... but not an S4.

You can't touch Audi's Quattro in bad weather.
I'm in my 3rd Audi Quattro, and I let a friend who is a die hard BMW guy try my Quattro in the snow up some really steep hills last winter- he wanted to kick himself for just dropping the $$$ on his Xi.
The next day I passed him by while he was trying to get up a nasty hill (I smiled and waved).

I can appreciate the Subaru's performance, and looked at a Spec-B, but it was only an automatic and frankly the thought of paying 30k for a Subaru just didn't do it for me. After driving my friends STI on this 7 hour trip I got out feeling like I'd been run over. Wait until you get to be as old as me, you'll know where I'm coming from

I had BMW's switched to Merc than back to BMW. I really like the driving experience of the BMW's much more than Mercedes, Audi has never done anything for me although they are very nice cars.

Current 745Li gets 22mpg at 90mph. I love the 3 series but have never driven a awd version so can't help you there.

Whoever said they are getting 24mpg in an RS4 I don't believe you...

If you want some creature comforts and don't care about gas mileage, what about an SRT-8 Jeep GC?

Those Jeeps are nice to look at and have all the power, but I've owned Jeeps in the past and have not been impressed with their build quality (especially the interiors)

Thanks for the feedback!

if you add headers and exhaust and chip to an S4 you will get some *very* good gains!! getting power out of a V8 is easy...

does anybody know if the new S4 will have FSI like the RS4??

the s4 is a bore to drive tho...its driving characterics are terrible. the bmw is much more fun to drive. its funny because when the b6/7 s4 came out they touted how it was an e46 m3 killer, and it failed miserably...now you never hear anything about the s4, only the rs4, and that hype will be gone when the e92 m3 hits our shores.

@ Mosport the S4 dominated many M3's... including one M3 with a very good driver.. CSL suspension and some engine work where he was pumping out 360 HP....

I too wasn't a fan of the S4 until I saw him run next to me in my 99 c2.... by the way... this particular S4 was a wagon !!! changed my mind for good.
