S5 - any news?

hi guys,

anyone driven one yet?

seen one in the flesh (next to a 335ci) and loved it. it was black with silver seats but can imagine meteor grey with red

i know the auto isn't due till may next year ... will it be a dsg box or somthing else?

loved the sound of this car and those led lights - yummo

i know it's not an rs4 in terms of track performance (though 0-100km times seem very similar) but it's looking like our love affair for an rs4 has switched to the s5. our dealer tells us that rs4 is going out of production in 4 weeks though i don't dare take that as gospel.

The S5 looks nice and promising. The RS5 will be a nice M3 competitor.

yeh had a red one with white interior exhaust note is nice, shifting is clean and in my opinion better than the 335i in terms of looks, quality and overall enjoyment

A little birdie has told me that the Audi S5 (and upcoming B8 Audi S4) will not be available with traditional tiptronic transmissions, rather the new options will by 6-speed manual and the new Audi S-Tronic transmission (Audi's DSG).

DSG, if you are not familiar with it, is probably the most technologically advanced and highest performing box on the production market today.

hi marcus,

i hope your correct but all the dealers i have asked here have said that the dsg will not be available for the s5 but rather it will be an auto (something about the direction the motor sits). most the stuff on the net tends to suggest this also.

regards,

julie

Fifth Gear did a review of it in the first episode of their new season that came out last week. You can get the torrent on finalgear.com or you might be able to find that short clip on youtube already. They put it up against the 335. Nice comparison.

Saw one today on the road. Probably one of the best looking cars. Do dealers have them to test drive or look at?

incorrect
the car will not have DSG
they will have a R-Tronic, which is a single clutch system, not dual clutch..
