Get a 996TT. Mod it to just under 600hp for under 10k.... No worries.
:-)
Just kidding.
Follow your heart. If you are asking us, don't get either until you don't need to ask us at all.....it is your decision 100%.
I am sure a GTR will be a super car....will it be a car you lust after in 3 years? I have thought about it. I always wanted a 911 turbo. So, I got one as my dream car. Ignore the times around the ring...ignore all that stuff. I am sure many feel the same way about the GTR and will be happy as owners. I think it is probably a wonderful car and has some things Porsche should copy (the tranny...).
One is not on the track 100% of the time (some here are, but they are very lucky guys...). In the real world, which one has the bigger grin-maker system. That is what matters (to me at least).
I for one need to actually "drive" a car that costs as much as these cars. Because of that, I just cannot say get a GTR because it might be really annoying to actually drive for a given person.....who knows.
I love driving my 996TT everywhere at every speed....sound, feel, smell, looks, the essence is just amazing. I'd have to sit in a GTR and see what it was like. It might be amazing on paper, but if it felt "cold" forget it (for me). Some people love Lexus cars. I don't. Just my taste.

Its $25k over MSRP. I'm not making a dime on that, on the other hand it doesn't cost me to be at the #1 spot either.

I would pass on it. If anything, sell your spot for a couple hundred. The market is going to flooded with people trying to dump the car after 6 months of ownership. But that's just my guess, as it seems EVERYONE is buying just to resell. Just like any new electronic gadget.
And I really don't think they're in "short supply." The only reason they're in short supply is because people bought them to resell, and they're low on supply to resell. Artificial market I guess you can call it.

university nissan and empire nissan both in CA...just talked to them not long ago. They are taking orders of the car. Not sure which position in line... but they are pretty certain that you will get a car.
