Need a beater? 2003 Honda Element

Base model Element with low miles (approx 56k). I really just use it as a beater and a dog car. Manual transmission, basically no options, just a well built, super versatile, super practical car.

It has some dents and scrapes that I never bothered fixing. I'll sell it for 9k as-is or 11k fixed up.

I just snapped some pics. There are a few minor dents from rocks and stuff. I took a picture that shows the worst one of these minor ones (it's on the front of the hood). The only part that could probably use fixing is the passenger rear door. It's scraped up pretty decently (some a-hole in a parking lot). I never fixed it because for me this thing is strictly business and I really don't care how it looks. If you're just going to use it for surf boards, you may as well save the money too.

Steve, what kind of MPG? Also, I assume it's a 4 banger?

All Elements are fours, it's basically a funky SUV built from the previous-gen CRV platform. That's a very decent price for a seriously functional and dead reliable box on wheels.

Given your location, I assume it's FWD, rather than AWD?

FWD and yes for A/C. It also has an aux input and a pretty decent stereo.

It gets great MPG, mid 20's in LA driving (for comparison of where and how I drive, I get 9mpg in my M6).

I just bought an Element as a beater and dog car as well. Very functional and versatile vehicle. Does what I need it to do and you don't have to baby the damn thing.

Me too. I just bought the one from my son, a 2006. It is a terrific car for running around and errands. I also use it for taking the dog to the park, and the grandkids on the weekends 8 grand is a damn good price for an "as is" car with approximately 56k miles. Good luck on the sale. Whoever buys it will be happy
