Also, UMW flash tune? Is this an aftermarket off the shelf tune that ups the hp? any idea what its making if this is it?

How are the brakes/pads/rotors?

What is the next service that would be due and at what interval?

it would show car operating hours, and the amount of occurances of ranges 1-6. where range 5 is an mechanical overrev i believe?

 

Range 1/2(no problems) 3(mild) are safe limits for over revs, where as 4 5 6 is pure mechanical over rev issues. It's sorta like a counter which records all activity on the car.
I've been looking for some clean 996's but it seems like no one has ever done or shown any records with the DME scan from a Porsche dealership.

I have a potentially serious buyer scheduling a DME next week, possibly at GMG racing here in orange county.

I think most 996 turbo sellers don't have the DME unless a buyer requests it / pays for it, because it's not really something you would need to do during the normal ownership of the vehicle.

If you search the 996 turbo forums here on 6 speed, you can find out alot of info about the UMW Flash. They are very reputable and highly respected here. Basically the UMW Flash allows you to run a "flashed" program or revert to your stock program.

The UMW flash unit attaches to the on board computer port below to the steering wheel area and allows you to "flash" the car yourself in a matter of minutes. I believe the UMW "flashed" mode offers a bit more power, but mainly it's to accomodate the lightweight flywheel. With the lightweight flywheel installed on the vehicle, it's a bit easier to stall the car at parking lot speeds, so the UMW Flash will hold the revs a bit when it detects you take off throttle too abruptly and potentially may stall the car. You can also flash the car back to stock and adjust your driving style appropriately.

For any guys shopping for 996tt's in So Cal, I definitely recommend GMG Racing in Santa Ana to do it. They charge a reasonable rate, and just visiting their Amazing garage is worth the trip itself. I think Newport Beach Porsche wanted $450 for the PPI - which I thought was pretty ridiculous.

John, one of the service managers, is also top notch! Highly recommended.

 

ugh this is very tempting. i am trying to find a seal grey 02 but i keep coming back to this car... i just wish you were on the east coast so i could drive it home in 2 days or less...
