FS: 1990 BMW K1 (Red/Yellow, Excellent Condition, Rare)
Too many toys in the garage! This bike is in excellent condition and you won't find a better example of this rare motorcycle.
Mint condition. Collectible. 27k miles, majority highway. Garage kept and has never seen rain. Includes original rider's seat pillion, rear saddle bags, owner's manual, tool kit, and keys. First offered in 1990, the K1 was a revolutionary bike for BMW which quickly became the Motorcycle of the Year. And for good reason. It featured such innovations as wind-tunnel designed bodywork, paralever suspension, full ABS brakes, special-designed Antera wheels, and a powerful 4-cylinder engine.
An estimated 600 total K1s were imported into North America. Red/Yellow is arguably the best example of this special breed and it is highly sought after today.
Aftermarket options lovingly applied include clear coat paint (to protect the original paintwork), daytime running lights, air horn, OEM BMW logo reflectors, high-intensity driver's light, and auxiliary 12V jack. Features a new master cylinder and brand-new $250 battery (ready for installation). This bike is well suited as either an addition to your collection or as a daily driver for the connoisseur. I am the third adult owner and have had this bike since 2000.

BIKE HISTORY
In 1990, BMW stunned the motorcycling world by showcasing its latest technology (anti-lock brakes on a bike!) in the revolutionary K1. Named motorcycle of the year by "Motorcyclist" magazine, the model came in avant gard bodywork with only two possible paint schemes: red & yellow or blue & yellow. (The yellow driveshaft and special Antera wheels are stock.) The most aerodynamic mass produced bike in history, the K1 can reach a top speed of 155 mph and run 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds with 100 hp. Approximately 600 of these exquisite bikes were imported into North America between 1990-1993.
The former owner of this particular K1 happens to be a well-known Philadelphia restaurateur who volunteered to cook for the Ducati race team at Daytona (to be closer to the "action"). Consequently, this particular BMW motorcycle was seen in the Ducati pits at Daytona when Fast by Ferracci (a Ducati dealer) first won the World Championship. In fact, this K1 was shipped back to Philadelphia in the very same trailer as the winning bike!
The rear pillion lifts off to accommodate a second rider and there are three storage compartments built into the bodywork to house the factory tool kit as well as miscellaneous items. Aside from ABS, other innovations include an extraordinary low drag coefficient, single-sided swing arm, telelever and paralever suspension, drive shaft, and an intercooler.
