Grand Am/Racing History. The car has run in Grand Am beginning in 2005 through 2010. The car was raced in 2010 for 6 or 7 races. Due to the purchase of a new Grand Am car, this 330 has not run in Grand Am for 2011. After the 2011 season, the car is no longer legal in Grand Am because of being an older body style (e46). In 2011, the car has been out to a few test days, mostly private test days (at VIR, VA and Summit Point, WV). The car has placed as high as 7th and generally has run in the top 10-15. In 2010, the car qualified 6th at New Jersey Motorsports Park. This is a good, well-sorted car that has run 1:24 @ Summit Point Raceway, WV.

Car Summary. The car has an AIM dash/data acquisition system including many sensors including brake pressure sensors. This data is invaluable in improving driving technique as well as diagnosing any car related issues should that be needed. The car has Grand Am spec Koni double adjustable shocks which have been rebuilt two races ago and are set up/valved for this car (and spring rates). Car has a BMW Motorsport hollow front sway bar and uses a stock rear bar. The car’s other features include: a race motor which includes BMW M oil kit, a Blanton race diff with 3:38 gears (ratio required by the rules and was freshened two races ago), new BMW 5sp transmission (two races ago), spare BMW radiator, Sparco seat, Schroth belts, Fikse 3 piece wheels with dry tires, Team Dynamics wheels with new rains, has harness for a radio, onboard fire system, FAST cool shirt system/box, gauge panel, push to start button.

Background. The car was built by John Vincent who at the time was with Matt Connolly Motorsports. Vincent now has his own Grand Am team (V-Pak). The cage was built by Victory Racing who has built many of the pro cages. A former co-driver, who is a mechanical engineer and shock tuner/rebuilder and who has set up and driven all of the Grand Am platforms including DP cars, believes that chassis wise this car is one of the best builds be has set up and raced. Despite being a 2 door coupe, it’s a stiffer platform than the 4 door 330s which is attributable to the cage.

The car is built to Grand Am specs as such you can't do as much as the SCCA IT or BMW CCA Prepared rules allow. Therefore, if SCCA or BMW CCA was the race venue for this car it could be “improved.” The car has a race motor that is built for endurance racing (clearances, etc.) and does have a BMW Motorsports oil system kit (deferent oil pump impeller, sprocket, baffled pan, etc.). There are two of these kits. The head is a good race head. The exhaust is not a header type (headers are not allowed by Grand Am) but represents an improvement over the stock exhaust. The intake is a 330 intake with a cold air box.
