Here is a description of the build:
This is a Thunder Ranch 6-cylinder kit and ultra rare. This car is basically brand new and a blast to drive as you can clearly see by the video in the included you tube link. If you are unfamiliar with these kits the six-cylinder kits are a completely different frame from the seats back so this conversion has to be done when the car is built. Normal 500 spyder kits cannot accomadate this style engine.
A little about the car:
Motor: less than 700 miles since rebuild
- 2.4 liter twin plug 1973 911S motor. This was a stock 2.4 liter. The S heads were added and twin plugged, S cams, S pistons, etc... to make it a true "S" motor. I recently completed a top end rebuild (Competition Engineering in Lake Isabella performed the work) and inspected the bottom end which needed nothing and looked great. The only thing that was replaced was the access circular oil gasket on the bottom of the motor by the drain plug which was weeping. All front main and rear seals were all dry as a bone.
- Peterson 10 quart oiling system with hard in-line oil filter and cooler with built in fan. This car will never overheat because of how open the motor is. The fan rarely even comes on.
- Rebuilt Weber 40mm stacks done by Paul at Performance Oriented. This was a complete rebuild with center shaft drilling... not cheap!
- New Mallory Comp fuel pump with Holly fuel pressure regulator and A/N inline (reusable) fuel filter. Also, all new stainless steel braided fuel lines were added when the engine was rebuilt
- Installed new style auto weather proof engine wiring harness connectors for easy removal when needed. This is a 8-way connector and used for all major wires from fuse panel to engine. Very easy to disconnect during engine removal or maintenance.
- Estimated at 225hp (if not more) and the car weighs approx. 1,400lbs.
- Custom 3-2-1 ceramic coated exhaust system with Dynaflow mini mufflers.
- Hydraulic assisted slave cylinder on clutch for easy driving.
Exterior/Interior:
- Racing plex windshield by Hanna manufacturing
- 356 glass windshield included with all framework and fasteners. I couldn't bring myself to drill holes for installation and love the current look of the vehicle.
- Tonneau cover custom made by Stitch at Classic Interiors and has a zipper to remove just one section for warmer conditions for driver or to protect against the elements if caught in rain.
- custom rear view mirror with headlight style holder
- Porsche square weave carpet
- 718 style balsa wood shifter (also in Carrera GT)
- Nardi steering wheel
- bucket seats from Thunder Ranch
- Twin Porsche style grill
Suspension/Transmission/Brakes:
- 901 transaxle from 914.
- 914 drive axles
- four link suspension with panhard bar and DiDion tube. Supported by Aldan aluminum coilovers.
- CNC 4-piston calipers up front and 911 2-piston calipers in the rear (brand new).
- Porsche 944 master cylinder
Wheels/Tires:
- Porsche Fuchs 16x7 and 16x6
- Brand new Dunlop DZ101 tires
I have owned many Porsches in my time. If I could afford a real 550 Spyder I would buy it in a heart beat but they cost millions... not going to happen. This car has had a lot of hard work put into it to make it this beautiful. People literally hang out of their car to wave, take a picture, give me a thumbs up or just to yell "Bad ***" at the top of their lungs. You are looking at a very powerful 550-6 tribute that has all the technology of the present with all the beauty of the past. I would not be selling if I could afford another car... but I need something more practical for when I take trips. This is obviously not a daily driver.
Regarding the more practical statement I just made I would consider trades, but they must fit my parameters that I will list below:
- 1997-98 993 C2S. Must be either white or arena red exterior with tan, or red interior.
- 2007-10 911 Turbo cabriolet. Will consider all color combinations.
- 1996-97 993 TT. Same requirements for the 993 above but may consider other color combo's for the right car/deal.
