Seeking 958 buying advise please
Hello all,
I am seeking advise on what model 958 to purchase. Of course I would certainly love a Twin Turbo and have been trying to find one thats not outrageously priced, which seems to be the case.. and I know I probably don’t want a 6 cylinder, so my question is this:
Which of the models, S, GTS or Turbo will I be able to get the best purchase deal on while still having a fun exciting, reliable driving experience? This will be a daily driver for the most part and don’t wont to go broke on maintenance or gas. I am looking at 2011-2012 years as those seem to be in my price range at about the 100,000 -110,000 mile mark.
I am a DIY guy and up until now everything has been BMW. My current daily driver is a 2005 545 sport that I have maintained with 213,000 miles on it and still runs like a champ. My wife drives a 2011 X5 35xi with 132,000 on it and we have a 2006 X5 3.0 with 227,000 on it that we keep as a 3rd extra for when one of the other 2 breaks and funny enough thats the most reliable lowest cost to maintain vehicle we own... All vehicles are high mileage as noted and I usually buy them at the 100K mark, deeply discounted and drive them till their death.. I find its a crap shoot with major issues when buying a high mileage vehicle but usually there are a number items that can be expected at the 100-125k mark but then they are good for another 100K give or take once you get past the nickel and dime stuff which is why everyone sells them cheap.
I could be crazy but when you get these vehicles for as low as 20 cents on the dollar, its hard to pass up.
As a side note, I have been also considering another X5 but would want the V8 engine and from what I read, the Porsche’s V8 might be a little less maintenance. BMW 5.0 is a twin turbo putting out 400HP, Porsche Cayenne S is non turbo putting out the same 400HP.
Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.
